As Counsel, you will help shape our Company’s long-term strategy, and drive its mission of providing access to capital for under-served small businesses. Directly reporting to our Assistant General Counsel, you will play a critical role in advancing our legal and compliance initiatives.

In this role you will:

  • Case Law Analysis: Evaluate shifts in statutory frameworks and case law to mitigate regulatory risk and advise leadership on necessary operational adjustments

  • Business Partnership: Work closely with other business units across the company, auditing practices and implementing procedures to mitigate risk.

  • Policies & Risk: Assist in the further development, implementation, and enforcement of company policies and procedures to operationalize safeguards.

  • Litigation: Play an active role on litigation matters as they arise.

  • External Liaison: Coordinate with outside counsel and third-party consultants to support ongoing legal projects, ensuring timely communication and alignment with company goals.

  • General Legal Support: Serve as a versatile legal advisor, tackling high-priority projects and emerging legal challenges in a fast-paced environment.

Role Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience working as an attorney in a litigation role.

  • Experience writing briefs and doing caselaw research.

  • Strong attention to detail and issue-spotting skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with senior attorneys, management, fellow employees and external counsel.

  • Ability to break down caselaw and regulations into understandable and approachable language for stakeholders throughout the Company.

  • Excellent writing skills.

  • Self-motivated, organized and able to work independently.

  • Effective in a fast-paced environment, with an ability to juggle multiple workstreams and pivot quickly.

  • Ability to solicit, receive, and implement feedback with the goal of relentless improvement.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Preferred: litigation experience, including discovery, motion practice, and trial support.

Compensation:

Annual Targeted Salary: $130,000-155,000 USD

Annual Target Bonus: 10%
