The Community You Will Join: 

Airbnb is looking for a visionary Creative Director, Design to join the Marcom Creative Team. Spanning design, copywriting, interactive, photography, film, and events, this internal team stewards the Airbnb brand and creates a wide range of highly visible work to inspire our rapidly growing guest and host communities.  

The Difference You Will Make:

The Creative Director, Growth Design will report to the Group Creative Director. This key role will help steer performance marketing, lifecycle marketing for guests and hosts while sustaining a supportive creative culture that inspires teammates to produce ever better creative. It requires a great creative and strategic mind paired with equal parts humility and empathy.

You are a standout designer and storyteller who can see the bigger picture. Before sitting down to design, you think about first principles—what problem are we solving, why will people care, how can it scale? You understand the nuances, power and principles of design deeply. You have a strong track record of partnering closely with Growth Marketing professionals, and overseeing all aspects of the creative process from start to finish. You can communicate effectively with direct reports, fellow team members, and cross-functional partners. You think strategically and can help build high-level product narratives, translating them into inspiring and successful creative solutions. You are a learner not merely a “knower.” You have mentored numerous teams to brilliance and have an enviable portfolio that demonstrates success at driving business impact, particularly lifestyle brands.

You'll be entrusted with the Airbnb brand and expected to push it forward. You will be helping to build a challenging, enriching, respectful, and fun environment for a team of talented creatives. These are important shoes, and we're excited to fill them.

A Typical Day: 

  • Inspire, generate, and refine big ideas that are strategically-informed, channel agnostic, and deeply integrated between all touch-points and product experiences. 
  • Champion the craft of design and help elevate them throughout the department’s output.
  • Partner with leaders across the company to ensure the brand’s creative vision is consistent with broader company vision and initiatives. 
  • Partner with external creative and production agencies to execute work that is of the highest quality and consistency. 
  • Partner with Executive Producers, Program Managers, Marketers and Photo to match project needs with company priorities.
  • Partner with Engineering teams to build new capabilities to push the work forward.
  • Champion Airbnb’s mission of connection and belonging at every step. Be a guardian for Airbnb’s values of inclusivity, diversity, and acceptance. 

Your Expertise:

  • 12+ years experience overall, and 5+ years of experience within a creative agency or in-house at a leading brand. 
  • An outstanding and diverse portfolio of innovative digital work with a proven record of business impact.
  • Experience leveraging emerging technology to solve design problems at scale.
  • Excellent management skills. Experience inspiring creative teams with a strong vision and empowering individuals to achieve their best work.
  • Experience collaborating closely with Growth Marketing teams. Ability to translate market research, data, and strategy to creative solutions.
  • Deep experience working toward solutions across performance Marketing media.
  • Flexible and dependable. 
  • Incredible organization, communication, prioritization, and decision-making skills.
  • Empathy for the customer, and empathy for individuals on the creative team. 
  • Passionate about Airbnb’s mission and purpose.

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. How We'll Take Care of You:

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
