About Us

There are 55 million Americans over 65 living at home, and their families are anxious in ways that go far beyond "I hope mom's alright." We built a phone that works out of the box, AI check-in calls that surface how she's really doing, and a family app that replaces daily dread with peace of mind. Families tell us they used to wake up with a knot in their stomach. They don't anymore.

We are customer-obsessed to an unusual degree. When we had a major network outage, everyone, including recruiters, engineers, and marketers, got on the phone with customers. That's not a policy. It's just who we are.

It is working, with tens of thousands of families trusting us. But most of the people who need us have never heard of us. By the end of 2027, we expect half of America's seniors will know who we are.

You will be the author of what they see. This isn't about directing a campaign. It's about building a courageous, iconic household brand close to scratch, with real budget and real creative license behind you. We aren't trying to rent attention. We want the kind of organic awareness that comes from people recognizing us, remembering us, and telling each other about us. If that's what you want to spend the next few years on, we'd love to talk.

What you'll own
  • You will set our creative direction as we scale from <10% of American seniors and their families knowing about us to >50% in 2027. That’s millions of impressions. Super-bowl-commercial scale.
  • You'll decide how Community Phone looks everywhere it shows up: TV, paid social, web, direct mail, the box, and our social channels. A family should recognize the same brand whether they see us at 9pm on TV or open the box at mom's house.
  • You will be the steward of our brand, ensuring all platforms, from paid ads to customer newsletters, meet our brand standards.
  • You'll take the brand identity system our design agency is launching in mid-October and make it world-class. Their work is the starting point. Scaling it across every surface and pushing it further is your job.
  • You'll do the real work yourself. You'll design the website, the box, and the pieces that define us, and you'll be excited to make things rather than just advise on them.
  • You'll build the creative machine for paid social and guarantee the quality of its output.
  • You'll own creative performance alongside growth. Beautiful work that doesn't move CAC isn't done yet.
  • You'll build the team that scales the brand with you.
What we're looking for
  • You have 8+ years in creative direction, and you've built a phenomenal consumer brand.
  • You have a portfolio demonstrating exceptional creative work across digital, retail, social, packaging, experiential, film, photography, and product storytelling.
  • You have both agency and in-house experience. You know how to get great work out of a studio, and you know what it takes to live with a brand every day.
  • You grew up on the visual side of creative direction (art direction, design, motion), and you have real experience leading copy and concept too.
  • You still love making the work. Your best days are the ones where you're designing, not sitting in review meetings.
  • You believe in the power of AI in creative work. You use it every day, you know where it makes the work better, and you're excited about what it makes possible next.
  • You've made creative that performs at scale, ideally across TV, paid social, and physical.
  • You have experience managing production budgets, agencies, freelancers, and complex creative programs.
  • You have excellent taste.
  • You have superlatively high humility, intelligence, and hunger. Great creative reveals truths that were already there. It is a pursuit of truth just as much as a pursuit of beauty. The people who can do it seem to possess these three qualities to a high degree.
  • You have the judgment to operate as the entire creative function today, and you want to push and be pushed by the growth team.
Nice to have
  • You've designed packaging and unboxing for a consumer hardware or DTC product.
  • You've worked on eldercare, health-adjacent, or other trust-sensitive consumer brands.
How we work

We're a fast-growing, YC-backed company built on curiosity, a bias toward action, and a founder mindset. We'd rather ship something small and learn than debate it for a month. You'll report directly to our Cofounder who runs Revenue and Operations, and you'll have a very direct line from your work to customers who will tell you, often within the same day, whether you got it right.

How to apply

Send us your portfolio, including the consumer brand you're proudest of building and what happened to it in market. Tell us briefly why building a brand for this kind of customer is interesting to you.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
