We take play seriously. We’re looking for curious adventurers ready to find their party, fueled by imagination and drive to build what’s never been built before. At Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast, you’ll collaborate with passionate teams to reimagine our iconic brands and create experiences that spark joy, connection, and community through the magic of play. This is your chance to shape legendary play that lasts a lifetime.

Do you love finding the heart of a story world and imagining how players might step inside it? Do you enjoy turning early possibilities into mood boards, creative north stars, kickoff guides, and clear direction for teams?

We’re looking for a Creative Lead, D&D Universes Beyond who loves pop culture, immersive storytelling, tabletop games, and the earliest stages of bringing new ideas to life. The right person will bring strong story instincts, excellent taste, collaborative judgment, and a deep respect for Dungeons & Dragons as a play experience — partnering closely with product strategy, Franchise creative partners, narrative freelancers, and subject matter experts to shape story, tone, and worldbuilding foundations.

This is a hybrid role requiring three days a week in our Renton, WA office.

What You'll Do:
  • Partner with product strategy on early concept exploration, creative opportunities, and topline ideas for new Dungeons & Dragons collaboration experiences.
  • Develop mockups, pitches, tone references, and narrative north stars that align teams around a shared vision.
  • Turn high-level ideas into actionable direction through kickoff materials, guardrails, worldbuilding documentation, and brand guidelines.
  • Source and manage freelance writers, lore/IP experts, and other external creative talent.
What You'll Bring:
  • Experience in creative development, narrative design, worldbuilding, publishing, games, or entertainment/franchise storytelling.
  • A track record of turning early concepts into pitches, franchise bibles, or editorial guidelines that align teams.
  • Sharp instincts for what makes a story, world, or creative opportunity compelling — and the ability to translate source material or brand guidance into clear, actionable direction.
  • Experience managing freelancers or external creative partners (assignments, feedback, schedules, deliverables).
  • Strong communication skills and comfort moving between blue-sky ideation and tactical execution, guiding decisions without stalling momentum.
  • Comfortable in fast-paced, iterative environments; strong organizational skills and a healthy relationship with feedback.
  • Familiarity with tabletop RPGs, fantasy storytelling, D&D, or D&D Beyond.
Nice to have
  • Comfort moving between different creative styles and IP expressions while preserving what makes each world distinctive.
  • Experience adapting existing stories or creator visions into new product concepts or team-facing guidance.
  • A love of fandoms and creating community through shared experiences.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
