Role Description

We’re looking for an experienced and highly organized Senior Project Manager to join our Commercial Strategy & Operations (CSO) team. In this role, you will take ownership of delivering critical, high-impact strategic initiatives that improve customer experience, strengthen retention, and optimize operations across the SaaS customer journey.

As a key member of the CSO team, you will be responsible for end-to-end project management from planning and execution to delivery, ensuring initiatives are completed on time, within scope, and on budget. You will play a hands-on role in daily task management, cross-functional collaboration, risk and issue resolution, and stakeholder alignment to drive successful outcomes.

We are particularly looking for someone who brings Project Portfolio Management expertise, including experience reporting on project objectives, progress, and outcomes to senior leadership. Additionally, you will contribute to the annual and semi-annual planning cycles, helping prioritize initiatives and allocate shared resources effectively.

Responsibilities

Initiative Ownership & Execution

  • Take full ownership of the planning, coordination, and delivery of Global Commercial Operations (GCO) initiatives, ensuring they are executed within defined scope, timelines, and budget.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, prioritizing initiatives for maximum business impact and guiding them through to implementation and successful handoff.
  • Oversee and track progress across multiple simultaneous projects, working closely with cross-functional teams to monitor milestones, ensure high-quality deliverables, and drive on-time completion.
  • Establish and maintain project reporting frameworks, governance structures, meeting cadences, and review processes that support successful execution and alignment.

Portfolio Management

  • Develop a structured portfolio management framework to systematically evaluate, prioritize, and govern projects across the organization.
  • Apply a scoring model to assess project benefits, risks, and costs, ensuring clear, data-driven decision-making.
  • Manage a pipeline of initiatives, ensuring projects are initiated at the right time for optimal business impact.
  • Allocate funding and resources across multiple projects to maximize efficiency and address capacity constraints.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and maintain dashboards to monitor portfolio health and performance.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and project sponsors to align portfolio direction with strategic priorities.
  • Facilitate regular portfolio review meetings with key decision-makers, ensuring transparency, alignment, and timely adjustments.

Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Assemble, coordinate, and align internal, extended, and external teams, driving consensus on deliverables and ensuring all contributors are working toward shared project objectives.
  • Provide regular updates, clear status reports, and comprehensive risk assessments to stakeholders, maintaining transparency and alignment across all teams involved.

Risk & Change Management

  • Proactively manage project scope, anticipate and identify potential risks, and develop effective contingency plans to minimize disruption and keep projects on track.

Communication & Leadership Reporting

  • Lead communication efforts throughout the project lifecycle, including handover to service teams and other key stakeholders at designated milestones.
  • Own the narrative and communication of project progress, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership, ensuring alignment on milestones, key updates, and final results.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in project management, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role
  • Proven track record managing cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives within a SaaS, software, or technology-driven environment
  • Strong background in portfolio management, including prioritization, resource allocation, and working with senior stakeholders
  • Expertise in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or hybrid approaches)
  • Proficiency with project and portfolio management tools (e.g., Jira, Airtable, Asana, Smartsheet, Monday.com, or similar)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess project risks, costs, and benefits using structured frameworks
  • Experience setting up and tracking KPIs, metrics, and dashboards to monitor project and portfolio health
  • Exceptional ability to align and motivate cross-functional teams, drive consensus, and navigate complex stakeholder environments
  • Experience presenting to and communicating with senior leadership and executive sponsors
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear updates, reports, and recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change management efforts, manage shifting priorities, and guide teams through ambiguity
Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP, Prince2, or Agile/Scrum certification (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster).

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
