📐 About this role

We are looking for a Data analyst to spearhead our product analytics initiatives. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our EPD team to develop analytical rigor, establish key metrics, and provide recommendations for product improvements. You will lead growth initiatives and present insights that will directly impact our product roadmap.

As an early member of the team, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of data at Writer. You’ll help define our metrics layer and consolidate our data into a single source of truth. You’ll have to navigate between data modeling, dashboarding and stakeholder management. You’ll constantly be challenged with hard problems, while juggling many data requests. If you are passionate about getting the “so what” out of any analysis and bringing your insights to life, we want to hear from you!

Tech stack

Core tools: BigQuery, dbt, Fivetran, Hightouch, Segment, Amplitude, Omni

Periphery tools: Salesforce, Hubspot, Gong, Vitally

🦸🏻‍♀️ Your responsibilities

  • Data analysis: Collect, clean, and analyze data to extract meaningful insights, and identify trends and patterns to inform business decisions. Design and analyze A/B tests.

  • Data modeling: Design and build new ELT-based data models using SQL and dbt, implementing efficient testing and validation to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the data.

  • Reporting: Create dashboards and visualizations that will lead to better business outcomes, product development prioritization and higher operational efficiencies.

  • Collaboration: Partner with Product, Marketing, GTM and other cross-functional teams to standardize and report on key metrics, while supporting each team with their ad-hoc reporting needs.

  • Data literacy: Develop resources to empower data access. Drive the vision, building, and adoption of self-service analytic capabilities.

  • Data leadership: Champion best practices and serve as a subject matter expert in data modeling, analytics, and visualization.

⭐️ Is this you?

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in a product analytics role, ideally in a SaaS environment

  • Advanced SQL and dbt skills

  • Proficient with product analytics tools like Amplitude, Mixpanel, or similar

  • Proficient with data visualization tools like Tableau, Looker, or similar

  • An analytical mindset, with the intellectual curiosity to search for context and insight behind the numbers

  • Ability to distill complex information into easily consumable reports and communications that provide insights, enabling quick decision making

  • Thrives in ambiguity and can create paved roads from dirt paths

  • Bonus points if you have worn multiple analyst hats - marketing analyst, product analyst, operations analyst.

  • Extra bonus points if you have experience working on the data engineering side of the house

AND

  • High intellectual curiosity and a proclivity to lean into a new subject matter

  • A trusted advisor and partner for all levels of the organization

  • Intrinsically motivated: you set the highest possible bar for what you build and ship

  • An eye for spotting an opportunity, intuition for determining which ones to prioritize, and courage to follow through

  • Possesses humility — no work is too trivial if it’s impactful

  • Resilient and open to honest (and kind) feedback; tough skin

  • Self-aware and committed to learning the why for both successes and failures

  • Proactive communication skills, both sync and async

  • Experience managing and building relationships across multiple departments and stakeholder levels

  • A natural affinity to our values of connect, challenge, own

  • #LI-Hybrid
