We are seeking a Data Manager I to join the Data Science & Advanced Analytics (DSAA) division, focusing on managing claims and encounter data within a Microsoft SQL Server environment. This role emphasizes data integrity, compliance, and quality improvement in healthcare analytics.

DESCRIPTION
The Data Manager I position is a key contributor to healthcare data management projects, with a focus on claims and encounter data. This role supports extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes, data validation, and reporting in a Microsoft SQL Server environment. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining data dictionaries, conducting audits, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure accurate data collection and reporting. The position also involves training team members on data management best practices and ensuring compliance with health data regulations.
The Data Manager I will work with a wide array of healthcare data types, including but not limited to:

· medical and prescription drug claims and encounters

ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Under the direction of DSAA leadership, develop, improve, and implement solutions and documentation related to data management activities currently in use and to be developed in support of HSAG activities.
- Prepare and deliver documentation and technical support to corporate staff and HSAG clients, managed care organizations, and their contractors regarding data gathering or dissemination activities.
- Develop and implement data quality management strategies.
- Implement corrective actions to improve data quality.
- Report data quality metrics to management and stakeholders.
- Document internal policies, procedures, and quality control processes that ensure complete, accurate, and secure data is available for applications and DSAA analysts.

- Research customer issues and provide data support services.
- Participate in User Acceptance Testing process.
- Responsible for documentation related to key deliverables and support documentation for assigned contracts and projects.
- Accountable for ensuring completion of assigned tasks according to contract specifications and ensuring that completed tasks meet client and budget requirements.
- Provide testing, documentation, and support for the database and project design, data collection and management, monitoring, and report preparation for assigned projects.
- Assure timely and high-quality contract deliverables and be accountable for the development and adherence to project time and task schedules for assigned projects.
- Troubleshoot with other HSAG departments on project activities, when necessary.
- Maintain flexibility to assist and support all department activities as necessary.
- Act as a contact for the data management team and documentation support.
- Keep abreast of changes in testing technologies and environments, database structures and current analytic methodologies, and communicate this information to peers and others within the company.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, or a quantitative discipline.
- At least two (3) years of experience with ETL processes in a Microsoft SQL server environment.
- At least three (3) years of data warehousing experience.
- Excellent SQL programming skills required.
- Experience gathering and refining requirements, interviewing business users to understand and document data requirements is required.
- Strong attention to detail, documenting business and technical requirement based on user interviews is required.
- Database testing experience required.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server is required.
- Experience working with healthcare data.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle several projects simultaneously and work with multiple teams.
