The Design Engineer Intern will design parts in CAD, create prototypes, assist engineers with product development, conduct testing, and participate in user research.
Responsibilities:
- Design parts and assemblies in CAD using top-down surface modeling
- Work closely with industrial designers to help assess technical feasibility
- Build prototypes at varying levels of fidelity using standard shop and rapid prototyping tools to solve design and engineering challenges
- Support a team of engineers to develop product architectures considering DFM and user experience
- Conduct product testing to validate design decisions
- Participate in engineering and design brainstorms to generate ideas for solving technical and user-centered problems
- Communicate technical work to internal and external stakeholders across different disciplines
- Participate in user testing and research
Qualifications:
- Has or working towards a degree in mechanical engineering or related field
- At least 1 engineering internship or co-op
- Hands-on prototyping skills with basic shop tools
- Portfolio of a variety of projects showcasing your engineering process (concepting, prototyping, CAD, shop experience, teamwork, engineering fundamentals)
Nice to have:
- User research experience
- DFMA experience
- Experience working on consumer products
- Familiar with surface modeling
