We recently launched a new ad-supported tier to offer our members more choice in how they consume their content. Our new tier allows us to attract new members at a lower price point, while also creating a compelling path for advertisers to reach audiences that are deeply immersed.

To help us deliver this compelling experience, we’re looking for a visionary, experienced and high performing Design Manager who will help enable various applications, features, tools and workflows in our global ad tech suite – solidifying Netflix as the premier destination for brands to reach a premium, highly engaged audience.

Your leadership and passion will motivate the design team and partner teams to deliver user-centric, engaging, and highly relevant advertiser experience on our Ads Platform.

This will be a hybrid role, with a flexible work-from-home schedule. However, onsite attendance will be required as needed by the business - as often as weekly. This role would be best for candidates located in California or in the Pacific time zone, as monthly in-person travel will be required to collaborate with stakeholders and partners in Los Angeles, CA and Los Gatos, CA. That said, we can always make exceptions in location for the right candidate - with flexibility to accommodate candidates at Netflix’s New York City hub.

About Our Team

Our Ads Experience Design team designs the experience, technology, workflows, and capabilities that power Netflix’s advertising business. The Ads Platform Design team designs all the applications, tools, features, and flows that power the end-to-end ads lifecycle.  Our Ads Platform is comprehensive, best-in-class and rapidly growing, thus enabling highly performant and optimal advertiser-centric experiences.

Our team’s primary superpower is the ability to design creatively and collaboratively in highly complex environments – from core services that power Netflix’s streaming technology to industry-leading partnership platforms.

You’ll be managing the design team that designs critical advertiser workflows and capabilities that enable setting up valuable and engaging advertiser experience. More specifically, you’ll be a critical part of one of the most talented and trailblazing advertising design teams in the world.

Why You’ll Love Our Team

  • We’re big on individual responsibility and smart on process.

  • Work with stunning, supportive designers on problems that matter.

  • Flexibility to balance work-from-home and in-office work, so long as you’re able to be onsite for meaningful moments of collaboration.

  • Freedom and flexibility to craft your own design workflow, while harnessing Netflix’s world-class design system and tooling.

  • Meaningful financial support for further education and professional growth.

  • An inclusive environment to help you do your best work and feel genuinely supported.

As a Design Manager for the Ads Platform Design team, you will lead a team of talented designers in shaping the future of Netflix’s advertiser products. You’ll partner with cross-functional teams to create innovative, user-centric solutions that balance business goals, advertiser needs, and member experience. This is a high-impact role, driving the design vision for Netflix’s evolving Ads Platform lifecycle.

What You’ll Do

Lead and Inspire: Manage, mentor, and inspire a team of product designers working on the Ads Platform.

Strategic Vision: Define and drive the design vision and strategy for ad products, ensuring alignment with business objectives and user needs.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Ad Sales to deliver cohesive, impactful solutions.

Design Execution: Oversee end-to-end design process—from discovery and ideation to prototyping, testing, and delivery.

Advocate for Users: Champion user-centered design, balancing advertiser goals with an exceptional member experience.

Elevate Craft: Foster a culture of design excellence and continuous improvement through feedback, critique, and mentorship.

Measure Impact: Use data, research, and experimentation to inform design decisions and demonstrate impact.

What We’re Looking For

Experience: 10+ years in product design, with 3+ years managing design teams. Experience in advertising technology, platforms, or related domains is required.

Leadership: Proven ability to lead, coach, and grow high-performing design teams.

Strategic Thinker: Ability to translate complex business and technical requirements into elegant, scalable design solutions.

Portfolio: A strong portfolio demonstrating impactful product design work, especially in platform or ad-related products.

Collaboration: Excellent communication and collaboration skills; comfortable working with senior stakeholders across disciplines.

User Focus: Deep empathy for users and a passion for solving complex problems with simple, intuitive solutions.

Adaptability: Thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

Bonus Points

  • Familiarity with connected TV, streaming, or digital media platforms.

  • Ad tech domain expertise: you’ve developed expertise in delivering advertising technology to a global audience.

  • Experience working in global, cross-cultural teams.

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
