Description
The Role
As a Designer within the Human Interface Design team, you will create world-class digital experiences that span web, mobile, and in-vehicle platforms. You own key initiatives end-to-end - from problem definition through delivery - and ensure design solutions are both elegant and executable.
You partner deeply with peers in product, engineering, and research, influencing design direction through both craft and insight. You bring structure to ambiguous problems, drive decisions through clarity, and contribute to the evolution of GM's design systems and processes.
What You'll Do
  • Deliver high-quality interaction and visual design solutions across multiple platforms.
  • Translate user insights and business goals into clear design strategies.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to define requirements, flows, and success measures.
  • Participate in and often lead critiques, design reviews, and collaborative workshops.
  • Contribute to the growth and maintenance of GM's design system and standards.
  • Support and guide junior designers through feedback and modeling best practices.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • 5-7 years of professional experience designing digital products or services.
  • A portfolio showcasing strong UX and interaction design work with measurable results.
  • Proficiency in Figma and fluency in modern design workflows.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling abilities.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Degree in Design, HCI, or related field.
  • Experience in designing digital products, mobile apps, ecommerce platforms, and cross-channel experiences.
  • Deep expertise in product design with a strong foundation in UX principles, usability heuristics, and customer-centric design thinking.
  • Experience designing for complex commerce platforms, including both net-new features and iterative improvements based on user data and business insights.
  • Ability to elevate the overall UX quality of digital products through strategic design decisions, industry best practices, and a strong sense of visual and interaction design.
  • Skilled in leveraging qualitative and quantitative research to inform design direction and optimize user flows for conversion, retention, and engagement.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving clarity in fast-paced environments, especially when evolving legacy systems or launching new ecommerce capabilities.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech
