Who we are About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies - from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups - use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

Web Presence and Platform is organized into two pillars, each of which is grouped into pods that focus on the central tenets of Stripe's public mission. The Presence pillar creates industry-leading designs for Stripe’s front door surfaces, educates customers about the power of our platform, and drives our business success. The Platform pillar builds the internal machinery that powers these surfaces, and is responsible for making our websites fast, stable, and easy to modify.

Together we design and build stripe.com and other sites that amount to what is, for many, their first impression of Stripe. As such, WPP offers exciting opportunities to have a major impact on Stripe’s success. We want to make every pixel count, we want it to be enthralling, and we want to help other Stripes seamlessly benefit from our systematic work.

What you’ll do

As a WPP Designer focused on events-related web experiences, you will enhance Stripe’s reach through thoughtful and expertly crafted event-related marketing sites, sign-up forms, and mobile apps.

Your primary focus will be crafting visually compelling and user-friendly websites that drive sign-ups and overall engagement for key events like Stripe Sessions. Through collaboration with Event Marketing, Brand Studio's Experiential team, and Design Engineers, you'll ensure that designs align with event-related business goals while providing significant value and delight to users.

Operating in a fast-paced environment, you'll leverage your visual and UX expertise to design intuitive experiences, ensuring they meet Stripe's high quality standards. Your role will seamlessly blend visual creativity, user experience principles, and a meticulous attention to detail to create best-in-class design solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design event-related websites, landing pages, and mobile apps
  • Create visually engaging and user-friendly designs that align with Stripe’s brand standards
  • Collaborate with event marketing to ensure interactive content meets business objectives and user needs
  • Attune and optimize event-specific brand identities and integrate them into scalable UI design systems
  • Collaborate with design engineers on creative interactive prototypes and concepts
  • Rigorously QA builds before going into production

Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • Has 5+ years relevant design experience at a tech, product-driven company, and/or agency with a focus on marketing websites and apps
  • Strong portfolio showcasing visually engaging web design work and delightful user interfaces
  • Can reduce complex problems down into pithy stories, delivered through interaction or animation
  • Proven record in strategic thinking and decision-making
  • Deep understanding of the principles of UX/UI design
  • Strong systems-thinking; able to extrapolate and extend shared patterns and behaviors
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Expert understanding of the formal elements of design, not just limited to the web and including typography, layout, balance, and proportion
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional environment

Preferred qualifications

  • Thorough understanding of motion principles such as easing
  • Previous experience designing interactive experiences for events
  • Love working with other designers to help them learn and grow—and have them help you learn and grow

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
