The Destiny 2 Global Franchise Marketing Director leads the strategic planning and development of marketing campaigns and is responsible for the successful execution of Destiny 2’s global franchise marketing strategy.

The Destiny Franchise Director will report to the Head of Publishing; however, this role is ultimately accountable for the publishing success of the Destiny IP. This role will also work as a key contributing member of the Destiny 2 Leadership team to champion vital consumer insights and analytics to maximize commercial and marketing impact, customer satisfaction, and franchise success.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop Destiny 2’s franchise marketing goals and objectives and variable marketing budget strategy, in partnership with the Head of Publishing and Destiny development leadership
  • Orchestrate the execution of Destiny 2’s publishing strategy through partner teams inside of Bungie, including community, creator marketing, and sales as well as teams that reside within the larger Sony International umbrella, including public relations, partnerships, international marketing, and consumer products.
  • Champion marketing’s strategic pillars, sales KPIs, cross-studio alignment, as a key member of the Destiny Leadership team driving toward a shared vision
  • Collaborate with Destiny development leadership to create product solutions that amplify key events and launches while informing in-game commercial strategy
  • Extrapolate market trends from consumer insights and player behaviors to determine future franchise strategy, surface new opportunities, and represent our player needs.
  • Help identify and resolve key franchise level risks that impact customer satisfaction, communications, and critical marketing initiatives
  • Help build and foster strong relationships with key partners, agencies, vendors, consultants, and industry experts
  • Work with business development, account management, and marketing teams to create comprehensive partnerships with external platforms, services, and new media channels
  • Mentor and lead a team of marketing and communications experts who plan, develop, and execute Destiny 2’s franchise marketing goals and objectives
  • Cultivate a supportive, innovative team culture through a framework of “inspire, coach, and drive”

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • 7+ years of experience in marketing roles, with experience leading a marketing team and a proven track record of successfully building global marketing strategies and taking new products to market within an ongoing live service
  • Ability to work strategically and collaboratively and to lead alongside executive-level team members and individual contributors
  • Ability to lead, manage, and influence large and diverse teams of people, including creative teams
  • Experience leveraging consumer insights and analytics to develop marketing strategies and products
  • Experience collaborating with games creators to successfully develop long-term franchise plans
  • Industry expertise, including expansive knowledge of large player communities and enthusiasm for videogames
  • Partnership experience with development, publishing, and platform partners to devise and orchestrate effective business strategy and tactics across the world
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, business analysis, and data-informed decision-making capabilities
  • Superior team leadership skills and a growth mindset
  • Excellent communication skills, including public speaking
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills and advanced proficiency in PowerPoint

NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS

  • Experience in development incubation processes, franchise strategy, and tactics in which you have seen great ideas succeed and fail in execution and learned from those experiences
  • Proficiency with business intelligence tools working closely with analytics and services through an always learning mindset
Listed below is this role's base pay range. In other locations that Bungie has approved for remote work, this pay range may be adjusted up to +/- 10% and some roles may be classified as non-exempt (hourly). 
This range is determined by an array of factors, including training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. Additionally, it is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

$189,000$219,000 USD

Contractors will follow a digital first approach adhering to the location guidelines agreed upon by our third-party employer/vendor and Bungie.
