Reporting to the Associate Director of Engineering, SRE & DevOps, the DevOps Engineer I will provision scalable cloud infrastructure and build reusable tooling to support developer velocity. This role is part of the Platform SRE & DevOps team and plays a critical role in driving automation and reliability across Spring Health’s engineering systems.
Please note that candidates for this position must be based in the Seattle metro area and be willing to commute 2-3 days a week when this role transitions to a hybrid schedule in 2026. You will be expected to travel 1-2 times per year for team offsites. We're excited to be growing our presence in Seattle!
What you’ll do:
- Provision and manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices
- Create and maintain reusable templates and modules to support consistent deployment of services
- Collaborate with platform engineers to define and promote cloud best practices
- Contribute to CI/CD tooling to improve automation, testing, and deployment pipelines
- Support operational health through monitoring, reliability improvements, and participation in team on-call rotation
- Contribute to technical design docs and improve team-level documentation and runbooks
- Deliver infrastructure automation projects that improve developer experience and productivity
- Work closely with SecOps to maintain guardrails that limit risks and ensure secure solutions
- Work with the compliance team to implement best practices for storing PHI in a safe and consistent manner
What success looks like:
- Participate in team on-call rotation and help improve on-call processes
- Create or improve at least one major internal documentation resource
- Deliver on projects for infrastructure automation
- Deliver projects to improve developer experience and increase developer productivity
- Contribute to multiple design docs or RFCs to support platform decisions
What you’ll bring:
- Have worked on previous devops teams or worked in the capacity of devops engineer
- Have worked with infrastructure as code technologies (terraform, cloudformation)
- Have some major cloud provider experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Experience in scripting languages (bash, python, or ruby preferred)
- You've produced technical documentation about upcoming changes, rationale, and process for migration
- Work on tooling around CI/CD infrastructure
- Focus on operational consistency and best practices when deploying new infrastructure or re-architecting existing services
The target base salary range for this position is $100,0000 - $114,000 and is part of a competitive total rewards package including equity and benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We review all employee pay and compensation programs annually using Radford Global Compensation Database at minimum to ensure competitive and fair pay.
