Maxar seeks a DevSecOPS Engineer to collaborate as part of a dynamic full technology stack engineering team working on a large-scale Government Geospatial Information software system, contributing to both operations and new development. Our team is building a cloud-based collaborative geospatial mapping platform that leverages commercial technologies to meet the needs of our users. This position requires an engineer capable of working across various technical domains to support mission success.
Location: This role is open to remote workers in the immediate DC-metro region only (Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC) as in-person customer meetings will be required.
Principal Responsibilities:
  • Accountable for the design and implementation of software engineering functions and processes for the mapping software stack.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network, automation pipeline, and infrastructure issues.
  • Responsible for the deployment and maintenance of mapping enclaves, supporting multiple customers.
  • Support the growth of the technical roadmap for future platform integrations and capabilities.
  • Work effectively within, and help promote, an agile development environment to drive toward requirements and expand capabilities for customers.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active TS/SCI security clearance. Must be willing and able to obtain a Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph.
  • Security+ Certification or ability to acquire
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field plus 5+ years of relevant experience; OR, Master's degree with Suggest 3+ years of relevant experience; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools: Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, Ansible.
  • Demonstrated experience with CI/CD automation concepts and tools.
  • Proven programming experience using JavaScript and/or Python.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based infrastructure, specifically AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, VPC, IAM).
  • Familiarity with Open Source mapping software applications and libraries (e.g., PostGIS, GeoServer, OpenLayers, Leaflet).

Minimum Required Skills:
  • Experience working within an Agile/Scrum development lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Basic understanding of containerization concepts (e.g., Docker).
  • Foundational knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems and command-line interfaces.
  • Experience troubleshooting technical issues in integrated systems (applications, infrastructure, networks).
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S).
  • Familiarity with common development/collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written) for technical documentation and team collaboration.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience working effectively in a team-focused, collaborative environment.
  • In-depth knowledge and practical experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Proficiency with Jira and Confluence.
  • Working knowledge of SSL/TLS, certificate management, Keytool, and/or OpenSSL.
  • Familiarity with other programming languages/frameworks such as Java/Spring or web development technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to technical leadership or mentorship within a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.
The base pay for this position within California, Colorado, Hawaii, and the Washington, DC metropolitan area is:
$140,000.00 - $160,000.00
For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
