Reporting to the Digital Campaigns Director, the Digital Campaigns Manager/Senior Manager is responsible for pitching, drafting, and implementing content (primarily email, sms and landing page copy) for list-focused communications. A successful candidate will be able to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks, especially during rapid response times when goals may shift, and keep calm in a fast-paced environment.


This role is part of the larger team that oversees how we communicate with our movement, drive people to take action, and help build a more just democracy.


The successful candidate should have at least 4 years of online content creation and strategy experience for a political/advocacy nonprofit or campaign with a particular focus on email and SMS. Salary range if hired as a manager: $66,650-$93,000. Salary range if hired as a senior manager: $77,900-$108,150.


We are looking to hire for this position as soon as possible!

Responsibilities

  • Copywriting & Implementation (60%)
  • Draft compelling email, SMS, and landing page content that educates supporters about issues and priorities, and motivates them to take further action;
  • Stage content in our email (ActionKit) and SMS (Mobile Commons) CRMs;
  • Facilitate the quality assurance process;
  • Serves as the Email and SMS lead in rapid response moments (including weekends and after-hours), drafting and staging content in collaboration with senior staff;
  • Set up calls to action and mConnects and create opt-in pathways for our SMS program as needed;
  • Draft and set up campaign pages to drive calls and emails to Congress;
  • The candidate should expect to draft 2-3 full-list, longform emails and 1-2 targeted or full-list SMS per week.
  • The Manager is the main owner of our weekly newsletter which is sent on Monday evenings and should expect it to be a major part of their weekly workload.

  • Digital Strategy (30%)
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop a monthly email and SMS calendar that balances activism, mobilization, fundraising and organizing priorities;
  • Coordinate across the policy, political, and organizing teams to identify opportunities for list-focused digital campaigns
  • Propose goals, tactics, and timelines on short- and mid-term campaign plans, including recommended strategies on email and SMS;
  • Compile and monitor key email and SMS metrics, including engagement rates, to assist the communications team in improving Indivisible’s digital campaigns;

  • Team Development and Supervision (10%)
  • Support the long-term development of the department by providing broad recommendations on trainings, knowledge sharing, skills development, teambuilding and other opportunities.
  • Provide ad-hoc coaching to new and junior staff, and help train them on our digital platforms and tools as part of their onboarding process.

Requirements

  • Able to draft persuasive mobilization and fundraising content quickly and effectively with little guidance;
  • Experience building messages in email CRM platforms like ActionKit, BSD or NGP and SMS platforms like Mobile Commons;
  • Understanding of email results and best practices and comfort with statistical evaluation of results;
  • Good attention to detail and solid proofreading skills;
  • Commitment to learning and personal growth, and to putting principles of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion into action in the workplace;
  • Comfort with quickly changing priorities: our work is responsive to the news environment and plans often shift on short notice.
  • The successful candidate should have 4 or more years of online content creation and strategy experience for a nonprofit or campaign with a particular focus on email and SMS.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience working on and fluency discussing democracy issues, racial justice and economic justice, and/or understanding of federal policies around these issues;
  • Thorough knowledge of the electoral and legislative processes, procedures, and organization of the House and Senate;
  • Email deliverability knowledge or expertise;
  • Some graphic design experience;
  • Experiencing managing and mentoring junior level staff;
