Omniscient is an organic growth agency that builds revenue-focused organic growth systems for B2B software companies — optimized for both search engines and generative AI.

We pride ourselves on being lean, agile, and experimental. Our team thrives on R&D and innovation, always exploring the smartest ways to deliver exceptional results. We believe in a culture of building and shipping — whether it’s client deliverables, new services, or internal tools that keep us ahead of the game.

If you’re looking for a role where you’ll tackle challenging problems, work with ambitious brands, and help shape the future of organic growth, let’s talk.

Learn about the principles that drive how we work and build a company.

About this role

We're hiring a Director of AEO & SEO to own how Omniscient delivers on AI search. You'll make Omniscient the AEO agency of choice, inside our delivery and out in the market.

You'll lead the AEO & SEO department end to end: the team, the methodology, the P&L, and its growth. You'll build and lead a team, set the standard for what great work looks like, and make sure it ladders up to what our clients' executives care about: pipeline and revenue, not citation counts. You'll also be one of the reasons clients find us, through your network, your POV, and your presence in the market.

You'll report to our Chief Client Officer and work alongside our Directors of Digital PR and Editorial, our Account Management team, and our founders. You'll have a lot of freedom and a lot of accountability.

If you have strong opinions about where search is going and you want to build the team and system that proves them right, read on.

Your responsibilities
  • Lead and grow the team. Hire, coach, and hold accountable your Team Leads, Strategists, and Analysts. Develop leaders beneath you, plan capacity and succession, and build AEO fluency, analytical depth, and executive presence across the department.

  • Own the department’s business and goals. Contribute to annual budget development and own the department's P&L, headcount, and KPIs. Make staffing and scope decisions with margin in mind, and grow the department through expansion and new services.

  • Meet with clients proactively and regularly. You get the voice of the customer and understand our clients’ challenges, their opportunities, and their sentiment around the team’s work. You identify opportunities to do more for them. You use the feedback and insights from those conversations to improve our services and delivery. Many clients know and trust you. You don’t just jump in when there’s an issue.

  • Bring in business. Be one of the reasons people reach out to us. Share your POV on LinkedIn and at events, build relationships across the industry, and turn those conversations into qualified leads, intros, and closed deals alongside our sales team. No quota, but you're accountable for sourcing leads and hitting revenue goals. Partner with Leadership and Sales to package and price AEO & SEO offerings that sell well and that the team can deliver consistently.

  • Set the direction for our methodology. Own our AEO & SEO POV and measurement philosophy. Lead your senior strategists and analysts in building and evolving the playbooks so the work stays ahead of the market. We want you moving faster than the Partners.

  • Lead AI integration across the department. Set the standard for how the team uses AI, and build some of the highest-leverage tools, workflows, and agents yourself. Work with your team to ship tooling that automates tedious tasks and frees up time for strategic judgment and relationship-building. We expect AI to raise the quality of the work, never to excuse lazy work.

  • Define, enforce, and exemplify what excellence looks like. Define what excellent research, strategy, and reporting look like, and build the QA system that makes sure every deliverable meets the bar before a client sees it.

  • Own client health across the portfolio. Partner with Account Managers and Directors of Digital PR and Editorial so clients get one integrated AI search program, see value fast, and understand what we're doing and why. Step in where a client needs senior AEO & SEO support.

Who you are
  • You have 7+ years in SEO and organic growth, including meaningful hands-on AEO work in the last 18-24 months. You've used AI visibility tools like Peec or Profound, and you can explain the difference between visibility, share of voice, citations, and recommendations.

  • You have a POV. You can articulate how AI models build answers, what actually improves visibility, what’s hype, and what to focus on. You have strong opinions, held loosely because everything’s evolving in real-time. You change your mind when data tells you to.

  • You've led multi-level teams, including managers or team leads, and you've owned hard calls on quality and performance. You’ve successfully managed a P&L, developed annual budgets, and hit GPM targets.

  • You're commercially-minded. You tie organic work to pipeline and revenue, and you can defend attribution approaches to a skeptical C-suite.

  • You have a network and a presence. People in the industry know your name, reach out to you, and trust your take. You enjoy turning those conversations into new relationships and new business.

  • You're a player-coach. You can make a complex idea simple for a new analyst and a skeptical CMO. You can operate at 30,000 feet and 500 feet. You stay close to the work, taking on projects alongside team members to continue developing your skills and your team’s capabilities.

  • You're AI-native. You've driven AI adoption and shipped agents and automations to help with AEO and SEO work. You believe much of the tedious work can be automated, and you'd rather design a system that makes the whole team better than personally save one deliverable. You'd rather design a system that makes the whole team better than personally save one deliverable.

  • You care about the details: Memos that are unclear, presentations that require refinement, stale or incomplete data. You catch these things before they reach the client (to show us you read this far, include the passcode AEO2026 in your application).

  • Your background includes agency and/or in-house B2B experience. You've presented to CMOs, CEOs, and VPs, and you're comfortable respectfully disagreeing with them.

  • You're not an asshole. We spend a lot of our days engaging with team members and clients. There's no room for assholes. You're friendly, eager to jump in and take ownership, and love to work as a team to be successful.

Why you should work with us

We're here to help you do great work and grow personally and professionally.

  • Real impact: You'll define how a growing agency does AI search, with a direct line to leadership, rather than being another cog in a machine.

  • Build at the frontier: AEO is changing in real-time. You'll have the room, the clients, and the data to test what works and turn it into methodology.

  • Opportunity for responsibility: We offer ample opportunities to take on more responsibility and make a significant impact on the business.

  • Team trips: We take team trips each year to places like Boston, Austin, Costa Rica, and Belgrade to get some time together in person.

Benefits

We're fortunate to offer competitive salaries and benefits, and we strive to create an environment that allows you to do your best work, develop your skills, and grow your career.

  • Health insurance - 90% of medical, dental, and vision insurance premiums paid for employees in the US

  • 401k with employer match - We'll match 100% of your contributions up to the first 3% of pay. Then match 50% of your contributions on the next 2% of pay.

  • Unlimited vacation - We trust you to take care of your work and communicate when you need time off. We recommend taking a minimum of 14 days a year.

  • Learning and development stipend - $2,000 to spend on professional development after 1 year of employment.

  • Free books program - We'll cover the cost of a Kindle and 1 Kindle book a month.

  • Networking stipend - $50 per month to spend on coffee or lunch for professional networking.

  • Annual team offsites - We organize an annual team trip to get time together in person.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
