About the role:

Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have research, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations. A Director serves as a leader within Gartner’s Business and Technology Insights group, establishing oneself as a credible voice within their designated market at local, regional, and global levels. Utilizing exceptional research and analytical skills, a Director, Analyst plays a significant role in producing pragmatic and provocative research which Gartner clients consume and apply to propel their business toward key objectives. They are a trusted source of advice for clients, reinforcing Gartner’s value every day by engaging them via in-person meetings, virtual meetings, sales support visits and Gartner conferences to discuss complex client challenges and offer appropriate recommendations.

This Analyst sits within Gartner’s Marketing & Communications Tech Marketing practice and will guide B2B CMOs and demand generation teams in transforming their functions for business impact.  As disruptive forces inside and outside the enterprise are resetting the expectations and objectives of Marketing Leaders, this role will focus on B2B content marketing strategy including workflows, technology, AI readiness and the oversight needed for the AI agent transformation in content marketing practices. In addition, this candidate will be expected to cover various aspects of marketing technology through evaluative research such as Magic Quadrants/Critical Capabilities as well as Market Guides and Hype Cycles. The technology coverage will include but is likely not limited to B2B content marketing. Successful candidates will leverage a deep understanding of B2B CMOs and demand generation leaders (and their teams) to advise those roles in enterprise or upper-midsize companies around:

Developing Content Strategy

  • Help marketing leaders to define and create an “AI-ready” content strategy that supports all phases of B2B buying: exploring, evaluating, engaging and owning. Defining a responsible, business‑aligned AI content vision that clarifies how strategy will enhance outcomes and customer experience, while ensuring brand integrity, compliance/risk mitigation, and ethical use.
  • Guide B2B CMOs and demand generation leaders who are driving lead generation through content execution and orchestration in campaigns, using text/video/image and other formats across journey stages. Implementing targeted content personalization to improve pipeline, conversions and buying group consensus. Developing ongoing refinement of content strategies to maximize answer engine (SEO/AEO) brand visibility. 
  • Advise B2B marketing leaders on the development of vertical content marketing strategies, preferably with expertise in developing strategies by industry verticals or enterprise functions. Knowledge of templates and AI tools to facilitate and scale the creation of a vertical content marketing approach. 
  • Advance best practices for measuring the business impact of content investments. Provide guidance on frameworks that pair ROI measures like content-influenced revenue or pipeline with ContentOps metrics like cycle time, cost per asset, reuse, team utilization. Simplify content dashboards and support business-centric narratives for leaders to translate how content impacts commercial outcomes.

Assessing Content Marketing Technology

  • Advise on organizational readiness for AI agents and related content marketing operating models by helping leaders determine required content supply chain processes, talent upskilling and cross-functional collaboration models.
  • Provide deep understanding of content marketing needs, supporting tech market trends and vendor strengths in various technology areas including but not limited to CMPs, GenAI tools, and AI agents.
  • Understand the opportunities and risks associated with AI agents across a range of content marketing workflows and use cases including the development of long and short form written content (blogs, whitepapers), video assets (social clips, explainer videos), images (infographics, marketectures), and audio (podcasts, GenAI generated speech).
  • Determine ideal build/buy/partner approaches related to AI agents in support of content goals. Defining content-specific requirement for AI agents and partnering with IT/Ops to determine build/buy/partner.

What you will do: 

  • Deliver high-quality actionable advice to an executive client audience through a variety of media.
  • Write evidence-based content that is clear and actionable.
  • Create and deliver presentations for webinars and other client-facing Gartner events.
  • Deliver outstanding sales and service support to retain and grow the Gartner business.
  • Build credibility as an industry expert to represent Gartner research, methodology and strategy.
  • Actively participate in innovation, ideation, and research discussions and collaborate effectively with peers in our research community.
  • Be a mentor and a coach by supporting more junior team members

What you will need: 

  • Experience as a content marketing leader for a B2B company (especially technology companies), either corporate or for large business unit or equivalent agency side
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Graduate degree preferred
  • 10+ years of relevant B2B marketing experience
  • Experience in native and embedded AI technologies used across content marketing activities
  • An informed understanding of the challenges facing marketing leaders within the enterprise and drivers of business impact
  • Extensive experience developing and executing enterprise-scale content strategies that successfully support and drive overarching GTM activities
  • Demonstrated executive presence; can immediately establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high quality deliverables
  • Strong written and verbal proficiency, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions 
  • Proficient in analyzing and synthesizing data; can effectively apply patterns and frameworks while drawing and defending conclusions to client challenges
  • Strong communicator who is able to explain complex concepts concisely and simply 
  • Subject matter expert comfortable presenting at large and small-scale speaking engagements 
  • Ability to work independently, while also being intrinsically motivated to collaborate across teams and support the workflow of others, in a multicultural global team
  • Ability to represent Gartner's research methodology and strategies effectively at all levels

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 148,000 USD - 175,500 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
