The Director of Application Product Management will lead product management teams, refining product strategy, managing multi-product portfolios, and collaborating with engineering and go-to-market teams to drive product success in scientific communication.
At BioRender, our mission is to accelerate the world’s ability to learn, discover, and communicate science. We are passionate about democratizing science communication in order to accelerate scientific discovery and understanding. We're looking for amazing people to help create the world’s go-to-place where science is communicated. Come join us!
You can think of BioRender as the “Figma or Canva for scientists,” with a suite of web-based graphics communication products that empower scientists to create beautiful scientific visuals and presentations with ease.
As the Director of Application Product Management at BioRender, you will be responsible for leading the application product teams that build the suite of applications that accelerate how millions of scientists all over the world communicate their scientific breakthroughs and discoveries.
- Within the first 90 days, become an expert on our users, their usage behaviors, and scientists’ typical research workflows. Deeply understanding the user and our product offering will be critical to your success.
- As a part of the product leadership team, work closely with our founders and executives to understand and help refine our product strategy.
- Lead and manage a team of product managers. Effectively drive development, communication, and delivery of our application suite across those PMs and product teams.
- Own and be accountable for the execution of our application product strategy. This includes the product roadmap, measurement of success, and internal operations for our application suite.
- Work cross functionally across our engineering, product, and design (EPD) teams and our go-to-market (GTM) teams to ensure that our products are successful in the market.
- Work directly with scientists and buyers at the organizations we serve to evangelize our roadmap and direction, as well as hear product feedback.
- Champion product craft and process and drive continuous evolution of our product team.
Our ideal fit:
- 8-10+ years of product management experience, ideally in a fast growing SaaS startup environment, with at least 4 years in a leadership role managing other PMs.
- Experience managing a multi-product portfolio of products of varying product maturity (both 0-1 and 1-n experience), and owning both the product usage and a revenue number as your primary measurements of success.
- You are technically fluent in modern SaaS frameworks and AI technologies. You constantly rethink how to use new technology to get a user to finish their job to be done faster and better than they ever could before. As a part of that, you experiment with and use AI to improve the workflows for you and your team.
- You are equally able to be a manager and an individual contributor, and don’t mind doing whatever it takes to get the job done.
- You have a demonstrated ability to make your vision a reality. You motivate your team with business impact oriented goals and hold yourself accountable for your team to achieve them.
- You’re a team player with an edge. You collaborate well but aren’t afraid to challenge ideas, including your own, to get to the best solution.
- You are an expert at bringing together qualitative user insights and quantitative data to make the most effective product decisions.
- You are a simple and clear communicator. You take the time to write the short document instead of sending the long one.
- You have a passion for our mission, vision, and product. Building software that delights scientists is hard work, you should enjoy it!
- A background or experience in life sciences is a really big plus, but not required. However, a curiosity and desire to learn about science and scientists is required!
- We are mission-driven: we work collaboratively towards our shared vision of improving scientific communication and accelerating scientific discovery. BioRender figures have appeared in more than 54,000 publications!
- BioRender is loved by millions! We have a world-class NPS and a community of loyal fans and users in 200+ countries!
- Our company is backed by top investors and accelerators like Y Combinator, and we are on a growth trajectory comparable to many top-performing SaaS companies
- We’re remote-first with team members across Canada and the U.S., offering you the flexibility to work from anywhere.
BioRender is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
