Director – ASD Strategic Commercial Operations, PMO

Lead cross-functional process improvement strategies and initiatives. Manage processes, systems, training, and communications.

How will you make an impact:

Assist customers in promoting health, cleanliness, and safety by explaining service benefits for faster therapy delivery.

What will you do:
  • Central Initiatives & Execution: Develop and implement central initiatives to optimize commercial operations. Align projects with business objectives, ensuring efficiency and profitability.
  • Project Management: Leading cross-functional teams to complete strategic projects from start to finish. Defining project scope, goals, timelines, deliverables, and success metrics. Managing risks, dependencies, and issue resolution to maintain project progress.
  • Seek opportunities to enhance business processes, workflows, and operational efficiencies. Implement standard methodologies and data-driven decision-making to improve performance. Actively collaborates with senior leadership to identify and promote continuous process optimization.
  • Design, develop, and implement comprehensive onboarding and ongoing education programs for business development teams based on commercial and operational priorities. Improve ASD-specific training materials to align with evolving operational capabilities and industry demands. Collaborate with scientific teams to ensure technical accuracy and efficient delivery of training content. Create customized, need-based training modules with quick turnaround for evolving commercial needs.
  • Commercial & Technical Enablement: Ensure training programs address the outstanding complexities of ASD’s labs services, which require a more technical, scientific approach compared to clinical trial sales. Differentiate training for Biopharma vs. Biotech teams, including territory planning, tactical selling, and commercial structuring. Drive alignment messaging across CRG and Thermo Fisher to build a unified commercial approach. Improve account planning processes by integrating better tools and frameworks into training initiatives.
  • Optimize Training Tools & Materials: Revamp onboarding materials, including detailed organizational charts, key staff descriptions, and training schedules for a structured start. Improve Allego training content to be more ASD-specific, comprehensive, and user-friendly. Ensure training platforms include step-by-step mentorship for easy adoption.
  • Commercial Meeting & Strategic Support: Lead ASD training contributions for global commercial meetings to ensure alignment and impact.
How will you get here:
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business administration, life sciences, or project management is the required minimum education; MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
  • Experience equivalent to 10+ years needed; preference for CRO, Pharmaceutical, or Medical Device sales background.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, training development, scientific sales enablement, and commercial strategy within the biopharma and biotech space.
  • Equivalency may be accepted based on education, training, or related experience for role requirements.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated success in a similar role that has consistently achieved measurable results and business impact as a result of intelligence analysis and related work product.
  • Outstanding organizational and project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Proven experience in crafting effective training programs that align with commercial and business objectives.
  • Strong focus on measurable training outcomes that directly contribute to commercial success and BD efficiency.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence collaborators at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Well-developed quantitative and qualitative data review and analysis skills.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software applications, including CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and data analysis tools. Hands-on experience with training platforms (e.g., Allego, M-Files) and digital learning tools.
  • Strong business insight and understanding of the laboratory sales industry, including market dynamics and competitive landscape.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Flexibility to travel as required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and visual reporting formats.
  • Strong business sense in various subject areas.
  • Excels in building and maintaining relationships across various fields both internally and externally.
  • Ability to articulate analysis with strong presentation skills and contribute to executive-level discourse.
Working Conditions and Environment:
  • Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment.
  • Travel, both domestic and international.
  • Interaction with clients/associates required.
  • Long varied hours required occasionally.
Physical Requirements:
  • Frequently stationary for 6-8 hours per day.
  • Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.
  • Moderate mobility required.
  • Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs.
  • Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf.
  • Ability to apply abstract principles to solve complex conceptual issues. Requires multiple periods of intense concentration.
  • Performs a wide range of complex tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions with little predictability as to the occurrence.
  • Regular and consistent attendance.
