The Corporate Strategy team sits at the center of Pinterest within the Strategy & Growth organization, helping to shape and communicate the company's multi-year growth strategy. We serve as the connective tissue between key product, engineering, sales, marketing and other cross-functional teams to accelerate Pinterest innovation and business growth.

This is a rare opportunity to join a company undergoing rapid transformation in a high-impact role, working on the most critical company-wide efforts. The Director of Corporate Strategy will stand up a new team from the ground up, carving out a new muscle for Pinterest that brings clarity and alignment around the existing strategy, shapes future strategic investments and identifies net new business growth opportunities for Pinterest.

What you’ll do:

  • Define the Multi-Year Advertising Strategy: Lead the 3- to 5-year strategic vision for Pinterest’s global advertising business, identifying and prioritizing the most important growth opportunities across upper-funnel brand advertising and lower-funnel performance and shopping solutions.
  • Identify and Evaluate New Revenue Opportunities: Assess and prioritize opportunities for market expansion across Pinterest’s first-party and third-party advertising businesses. Partner closely with Business Development and Corporate Development to evaluate build, buy, and partner pathways.
  • Lead Competitive Intelligence for the Ad Tech Landscape: Drive ongoing analysis of the competitive and industry landscape, synthesizing key market trends, competitor performance, and external benchmarks into actionable insights for senior leadership.
  • Own Strategic Communications for Pinterest’s Advertising Vision: Develop compelling strategic narratives, executive presentations, and board-level materials to communicate Pinterest’s advertising strategy and key initiatives to the Head of Advertising, Chief Product Officer, and Board of Directors.

What we’re looking for:

  • Data driven and highly skilled in identifying and synthesizing game-changing insights
  • Excellent (verbal, written, visual) communication skills, with proven ability to develop and present compelling narratives to broad audiences
  • Strong business judgment, with an owners’ mindset and the ability to navigate ambiguity
  • Experience in building trusted relationships and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization; including getting into the details to “become the expert” on an area of focus, then upleveling and clearly articulating the “so what” for others.
  • Curious and knowledgeable about the ads, ecommerce, and broader technology industry
  • Self-starter and excited about the prospect of building a team/function from the ground up
  • Multiple years of experience in Corporate Strategy, Finance, or a comparable role in high-growth tech companies
  • Proven ability with navigating a global organization structure and building strong collaborative relationships with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, or equivalent experience.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
