Objective of the Role

The Director will be a platform resource who is pivotal in driving innovation and efficiency within the design and planning practice area. By leveraging their expertise in Autodesk products and other design technologies, they will be instrumental in creating support models, championing product use, generating training modules, and advocating for enhancements. Additionally, their focus on usage analytics and efficiency reporting will help ensure consistent and effective product usage across the board.

The primary customers of this role are the internal C&W design associates and directors. Direct interface with the business is required so customer interface, solutioning, experience excellence, and training are critical skills for success. Success in this role is not based solely on technical experience but in enhancing the effectiveness, quality, and innovation of design projects, leading to more successful and impactful outcomes.

Efficiency and Productivity: By creating efficiencies and support models, the role ensures that design teams can work more effectively, reducing time spent on repetitive tasks and allowing more focus on creative and strategic aspects of projects.

Consistency and Quality: Advocating for consistent product usage and implementing best practices as well as training helps maintain high standards across all projects, leading to more reliable and high-quality outcomes. The role will establish and ensure compliance with company AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM standards and workflows; provide scalable training and hold best practices on Revit/BIM use to support business workflows; serve as primary liaison with Autodesk technical teams to maximize the efficiency and capabilities of the tools within these business processes.

Innovation and Improvement: By championing product use and advocating for enhancements, the role keeps the team updated with the latest technologies and methodologies, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. The role will act as a conduit to AutoDesk advisory consulting and product specialists to identify strategic initiatives and prioritize solutioning aligned with business goals; continually engage on advancing knowledge by providing updates in existing and new software applications in relation to design software and bringing these to the teams where applicable to advance improvement.

Data-Driven Decisions: Usage analytics and efficiency reporting provide valuable insights that can be used to make informed decisions, optimize processes, and identify areas for improvement, ultimately leading to better project outcomes. The role will ensure data extracted from Revit models is accurate and can be leveraged to advance data reporting and future automation opportunities around repetitive tasks using Revit's API and other tools.

Client Satisfaction: Understanding business and client needs ensures that the design solutions are aligned with client expectations, leading to higher satisfaction and successful project delivery. This role will guide the development and maintenance of company-wide Revit templates and support individual client-team level template enhancements to drive business workflows aligning with client goals.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership: Overseeing Revit/BIM implementation and ensuring adherence to standards.
  • Strategic Planning: Developing and maintaining long-range plans for strategic advancement of the tool to support business processes.
  • Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of Revit, Dynamo, and other BIM software as well as rendering toolsets.
  • Data Management: Governance and documentation of processes required to ensure accurate data extraction and usage for automation. Excellent analytics skills and use of automation
  • Interpersonal Skills: Effective communication and collaboration with all project stakeholders; strong communication, teaching, and teamwork skills
  • Expertise in Revit: Advanced skills in creating and managing 3D models; proven experience as a Revit Specialist or BIM Manager in business use of product supporting workflow (not simply technical)
  • Construction Documentation: Understand the role of our internal project designer vs the role of an external resource such as an architect or engineer and ensure the tools are configured to support work while facilitating the transfer of information to external resources within the project workflow
  • Template Creation: Supporting the development of client-team -specific templates in Revit based on best practices, leveraging necessary technical expertise to drive improved outcomes.
  • Quality Control: Ensuring compliance with BIM standards and guidelines as well as reporting accuracy related to data extracted from the models including costs and takeoffs
  • Training and Support: Providing drawing technology training modules individually and leveraging external learning modules to support to team members in advancing skills and tool adoption
  • Integration: Understand the C&W Global Occupier Services model, the real estate life cycle in relation to the design life cycle, and the integration with project management and facilities teams and use this understanding to ensure tools support interlocks in project processes.

Preferred Education and/or Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Engineering, or related field required
  • 10-15 years in the drawing production industry, specifically focused on interior drawings, test fit and schematic production, and rendering areas with understanding of construction document drawing content and expectations
  • Experience in programmatic delivery of design standards and drawings across multiple locations is preferred
  • Retail and office related drawing experience integrating 3rd party vendors content including furniture, fixtures and equipment is preferred
  • Experience in design workflows and how they support business success and profitability is required (this is not a technical focused position only)
  • Knowledge of analytics tools such as PowerBI or Tableu
  • Experience with BlueBeam is suggested
  • Real estate industry experience suggested
  • Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) in Revit required
  • buildingSMART Certification suggested
  • BIM Manager Certification suggested

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate’s experience and qualifications.


The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.


The compensation for the position is: $110,500.00 - $130,000.00
