Our leadership team brings expertise from industry giants like Apple, Carta, Venmo, MX, and Okta, driving the future of financial data access.

What You’ll Do

  • Work with engineers on key technical decisions, break ties, and escalate short-term decisions that may have long-term impacts on the product and user experience.
  • Maintain alignment between product and engineering and coordinate multiple work streams across the platform, application, and integration teams with a focus on achieving high-quality, on-time deliverables.
  • Define and track engineering performance metrics while upholding a culture of quality, clarifying scope of work, ensuring clear accountability, and creating learning opportunities.
  • Set up teams for success by helping define organizational and individual career paths, unifying the team behind company goals, and encouraging collaboration across teams.

What We're Looking For

  • You have strong expertise in building data products with complex backend logic and have at least 10 years of hands on backend development under the belt.
  • You can be a player-coach when needed going into the details and looking into the code as well as running well defined process of product development and managing the team.
  • We have grown to 25 engineers across few countries, and we are actively investing in building out our engineering leadership team to continue scaling. You will play a key role in leading the engineering organization, from providing technical guidance and mentorship to fostering our already-beloved engineering culture.
  • Our engineering team is made up of super bright, thoughtful, and dedicated engineers that deserve equally qualified leaders that will be strong advocates for them in their work and in their careers. You will report directly to our CTO and work with engineering managers. We expect you to champion our culture of proactivity, engagement, teamwork, and kindness and move the needle across people, product, and process.

  • Hiring Manager Interview - 45 minutes: The first interview will be an introductory interview with our CTO focused on your unique approach to engineering leadership.
  • CEO Introduction + Engineering Leadership - 60 minutes: This will be an opportunity to dive into your ability to act as a leader as we expand the engineering team, thrive in a fast-moving startup environment, and get up to speed on the payroll data domain.
  • Virtual Onsite - 2.5 hours: You'll have the opportunity to meet our 2 engineering managers/directors, 2 tech leads, and a VP of product for 30-45 minutes each and work through exercises spanning systems design, engineering leadership, and culture.
  • Offer: We try our best to give you a decision within 24 hours of each interview, regardless of whether we are moving forward or passing on your candidacy. We will present our offer and provide additional context about our stock options and growth trajectory.

And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
