Lead the engineering organization for Trust & Safety by setting strategic roadmaps, managing teams, and overseeing platforms while ensuring execution excellence.
Responsibilities
- Strategy & Organizational Health: Lead the Trust & Safety engineering org, defining multi-quarter roadmaps in partnership with cross-functional leadership. Hire and coach engineering managers, creating clear growth paths and fostering a culture of high standards, psychological safety, and accountability.
- Execution Excellence: Drive predictable delivery, balancing urgent risk response with long-term platform investments. Establish scalable operating rhythms for planning, technical reviews, and incident learnings.
- Technical Leadership: Provide oversight for T&S platforms (detection, enforcement, appeals, identity) and ensure strong system design for privacy-conscious workflows. Drive excellence in observability, data quality, and safety-critical development standards.
- Partnerships: Build relationships with Match Group leaders to share patterns and align on capabilities. Translate industry trends (e.g., AI threats, regulatory changes) into actionable strategy and rigorous build-vs-buy decisions.
- AI Change Management: In close partnership with Product and AI leaders, modernize enforcement and user experiences with AI-enabled workflows that are measurable, accountable, and trusted by users.
What We're Looking For
- Experience: 10+ years in software engineering (distributed systems at scale) and 2+ years managing managers with a track record of scaling healthy teams.
- Technical Judgment: Strong grasp of architecture, reliability, data/ML-adjacent systems, and mobile + backend collaboration.
- Domain Expertise: Intuition for Trust & Safety domains such as abuse prevention, fraud, moderation workflows, identity, or user reporting.
- Operational Agility: Comfort operating in high-urgency environments, managing incident response without sacrificing long-term quality.
- Strategic Thinking: Relentless focus on driving user value whilst navigating regulatory requirements.
- Communication: Exceptional ability to influence across executive leadership, Legal/Policy partners, and external stakeholders.
