The Director of Engineering will lead engineering strategy, improve manufacturing processes, manage projects, ensure compliance, and support continuous improvement efforts.
Oberto Snacks Inc., known for our high quality, delicious meat snacks are currently hiring for a Director of Engineering at our Kent, Washington manufacturing facility.
The Director of Engineering leads the strategy and execution of the short term and long-term capital plan, engineering and maintenance projects and environmental compliance for Oberto Snacks.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the development and implementation of engineering strategic plans supporting the overall business objectives of Oberto Snacks.
- Provide leadership, input, and direction to understand and improve manufacturing processes aligned with company strategic goals.
- Use of lean manufacturingengineering principles to design and layout production lines, work areas, manufacturing processes and production equipment.
- Establish a culture of continuous improvement and best practice sharing that results in the most effective use of resources, cost reduction and quality improvement.
- Accountable for selection of primary process technologies and equipment requirements, to meet current and forecasted business production, operating cost, and quality needs.
- Establishment and documentation of manufacturing processes insupport of new products and design changes.
- Work with R&D, Manufacturing, Marketing, and Sales to ensure a timely transition of projects from development to market launch.
- Direct and comprehensive management of all engineering, environmental and maintenance projects.
- Lead team through coaching, training, development, and technical skill building to align with the long-term manufacturing strategic plan.
- Identification of best-in-class equipment, processes, facilities, etc.
- Maintain company Environmental, Social and Governance reporting.
- Follow established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements.
- Maintain accountability to Oberto Snacks’ Food Safety and Quality Principles.
- Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the SQF 2000 Systems.
- All other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Process Engineering preferred.
- Six Sigma or Lean Certification Preferred.
- 10-15 years’ experience managing plant engineering supporting a fast paced, growth-oriented manufacturing environment; experience in food manufacturing preferred.
- Experience with sophisticated packaging equipment in consumer packaged goods industry preferred.
