This is a high-impact, foundational 'build' opportunity for a strategic leader to establish MongoDB's internal Executive Recruiting function, acting as a critical driver of the MongoDB 3.0 transformation. The Global Leader will be the chief architect responsible for designing, deploying, and governing the processes by which MongoDB identifies, assesses, and hires its most senior executive talent (VP-level and above). This role requires a blend of hands-on executive search execution, strategic program design, and relentless pursuit of operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities and Focus Areas

Strategic Function Establishment & Governance

  • Design, implement, and own the Global Executive Search Operating Model, defining the standards, processes, and selection methodology for all VP+ searches
  • Define clear standards for intake, scoping, talent mapping, prospecting, candidate presentation, and interview stages to ensure consistency and align all assessment practices with MongoDB’s Leadership Commitments
  • Utilize existing tools, while building the business case for necessary future investments in specialized intelligence platforms and advanced assessment capabilities

Executive Search Execution & Trust Building

  • Personally lead a small, intentionally low volume of mission-critical executive searches (i.e. 1-2 concurrent), setting the gold standard for quality, communication, and candidate experience
  • Act as the primary strategic advisor to the CEO, C-suite, and business leaders, building unwavering trust in the internal team's ability to successfully fill critical leadership gaps
  • Ensure all senior candidates, regardless of outcome, receive a premium, consistent, and respectful experience that reinforces MongoDB’s employer brand

Talent Pipelining and Sourcing Strategy

  • Directly manage an Executive Sourcer, directing their efforts toward sourcing for active searches while launching continuous, batched projects to map external talent for 1-2 critical future leadership profiles at a time
  • Develop and execute a multi-year approach for identifying, mapping, and cultivating relationships with external leadership talent to address long-term succession planning and growth needs across core functions

Leadership and Community of Practice

  • Lead an Executive Recruiting Community of Practice (CoP), indirectly guiding senior recruiters embedded within business units who will be leveraged for high-stakes executive searches
  • Ensure all recruiters operating within the CoP consistently apply the established executive search standards, selection criteria, and high-touch presentation methodology
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in executive recruiting, with significant tenure leading VP-level and above searches, ideally within a high-growth, high-scale technology or SaaS environment
  • Proven experience designing and/or overhauling an executive search process, creating more mature practices and higher value, and transitioning from external reliance to an effective internal execution model
  • Exceptional communication skills with a demonstrated ability to partner, influence, and build credibility with C-level executives and the Board
  • Proven experience serving as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to business leaders, proactively exploring and recommending options related to organizational design and talent strategy
  • Deep commitment to aligning rigorous selection practices with organizational values and a demonstrated understanding of how executive talent directly drives large-scale business transformation
