Description
The Director, Executive Talent Management role builds the future leadership bench, designing and implementing executive talent management strategies and programs for our SVP+ executives. This role requires a visionary leader who can both define the future of executive talent strategy and operationalize it at enterprise scale. This role ensures we are identifying, building, and preparing our current and next generation of leaders to lead Salesforce today and into the future. With a primary focus on succession planning, leader pipeline development, retention/engagement, and executive talent initiatives, this role collaborates closely with senior leaders in Employee Success and the business to develop a strong, diverse leadership bench across the enterprise.

Responsibilities:

  • Succession Planning - Develop and deliver a comprehensive succession planning strategy, identifying critical leadership roles and criteria for key successors. Define measures of success and ongoing governance. Partner with senior Employee Success leaders to drive ongoing accountability for the program. Work with the data analytics team to analyze successor information and enhance the critical role dashboard. Translate vision into scalable processes that can be executed consistently across the enterprise. Provide support in preparing for quarterly board meetings.

  • Leadership Pipeline - Create and influence processes to identify, develop, and place high potential leaders for future roles within Salesforce. Build innovative frameworks that work at scale while maintaining quality and impact. Establish guidance and processes to enable this at scale. Partner with internal and external stakeholders to enhance successor profiles, and create greater objective assessment of readiness.

  • Executive Talent Management Strategy - Design and implement an AI-led end-to-end executive talent management strategy roadmap, developing a framework for how to retain, engage, and move talent. Balance big-picture thinking with practical execution, ensuring strategies are both forward-thinking and operationally sound. Use data to identify success and gap areas, and identify critical business outcomes to ensure our strategy drives the highest impact. Lead implementation of a comprehensive plan focused on SVP+ retention and engagement.

  • Talent Identification - Identify future-ready skills to lead the agentic enterprise, capabilities, and experiences for key executive roles and successor readiness. Build a scalable, data-driven assessment strategy and approach to identify key strengths and development opportunities for critical executive talent and successors.

  • Collaborate and Influence - Build deep partnerships with critical ES teams, including ES Leadership and Business Partners, the Office of Equality, Enterprise Learning, Executive Recruiting, Executive Onboarding, and Compensation.

Requirements:

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
