What the Role Offers – Director of IT

The Director of IT leads company-wide technology initiatives. This role reports directly to the COO and is responsible for developing the technology strategic roadmap and operational plan that outlines the development, launch and optimization of the company’s technology infrastructure and applications. This role will focus on modernizing our technology platforms, cybersecurity, and cloud transformation using innovative approaches that effectively balance scale and cost.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Lead the strategic development, design, deployment and maintenance of secure, reliable and scalable IT infrastructure across the cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Lead the hiring, mentoring and performance of the IT team, fostering an environment of innovation and accountability.
  • Responsible for the technology strategic roadmap and operational plan, with a strong attention to detail to regulatory and financial details.
  • Lead the cybersecurity strategy by defining access levels, enabling server protection measures, conducting regular security audits, analyzing security problems and risks, and implementing solutions.
  • Responsible for optimizing the IT helpdesk and delivering consistent customer support with clear deliverables, standards and measures.
  • Collaborate with other department leaders to scope and deliver integrated and business-forward IT and AI solutions that support business goals across a matrixed business environment, with a focus on efficiency and productivity.
  • Optimize current company applications and IT assets, transitioning to cloud platforms, and renegotiating software contracts so they are fully utilized and cost-efficient.
  • Effectively lead and manage external service providers, vendors and other external partners as needed.
  • Establish an IT Steering Committee to foster regular communication and alignment around the strategic roadmap priorities.
  • Communicate technical concepts and strategy in a digestible manner across the company.
  • Stay up to date with field advancements and ensure the team receives refresher training as appropriate.
  • Assist with special projects and initiatives as assigned.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressive IT experience, including 5+ in a senior or director-level role.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CMMC, NIST, CISM, PMO, or ITIL.
  • Proven experience managing IT in a matrix environment in a life sciences or biotechnology company required.
  • Direct experience leading CMMC or NIST certification projects.
  • Adept at cloud-based service models with a strong understanding of modern IT operations, their cost and impact.
  • Expertise in IT asset management, including licenses, hardware, vendor relationships and cloud service procurement.
  • Ability to scope and implement new frameworks and applications, including development, gap assessments and remediation plans.
  • Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences in a clear and empathetic manner.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with the ability to pivot and respond to changing business demands.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently use of office equipment that requires manual dexterity to operate (i.e. computers, phones, etc.).
  • Occasional carrying, handling, and reaching for objects up to 30 pounds.
  • Frequently sit or stand for long periods of time.

Mental Demands:

  • Requires operational discipline to consistently focus and execute work-related tasks, with a minimum of human error and supervision. This involves self-checking of work immediately upon completion, and the ability to find / correct errors.
  • Ability to elevate potential concerns/discrepancies to leadership in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to manage time effectively to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously required.
  • Ability to use problem-solving techniques to ensure project goals are met.
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written are necessary to communicate within different departments and with external clients, maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to adhere to ethical standards of conduct as well as applicable state and federal laws.

Working Conditions:

  • Onsite position in Redmond or Woodinville, WA. No remote or hybrid work is available for this position.
  • Ability to work some weekends or late evenings as required.
  • Extended periods of time on the computer.
  • Extended periods of time on your feet.

Estimated Based Salary:

  • $200,000 - $230,000 / annual salary DOE
  • It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the pay range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
  • The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience and location.

  • Medical, Dental, Vision, FSA, or HSA: Inventprise contributes 80% toward the Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage for the employee, and their enrolled spouse, and dependents. Medical plans are currently provided through Premera Blue Cross.
  • 401(k) program: Inventprise offers both pre-tax 401(k) and post-tax Roth retirement savings plans, letting you decide how you want to save for the future. We also make an employer contribution of 3% of your total earnings each pay period, regardless of whether you contribute.
  • Paid Time Off: Generous PTO, in addition to paid holidays.
