About this role:

We're looking for a Director of Marketing Operations to own the systems, data, and processes that power Astronomer's marketing engine. You'll report to the VP of Revenue Marketing and manage a small team (a Senior Manager focused on campaign operations and a coordinator/specialist you'll help hire). This role is equal parts strategic and hands-on: you'll partner closely with marketing and sales leadership to turn data into decisions, while also building and optimizing the infrastructure that lets the team scale. The right candidate is someone who genuinely enjoys both the big picture and the details. You can present a budget model to the CMO in the morning and debug a Marketo flow in the afternoon. A Senior Director title is available for candidates with the right experience and leadership profile.

What you get to do:
  • Own and optimize Astronomer's marketing technology stack (Marketo, Salesforce, LeanData, and supporting tools), ensuring it meets current needs and can scale with the business

  • Build and maintain marketing attribution models, dashboards, and reporting that give leadership clear visibility into what's working and what's not

  • Partner with marketing and sales leadership to enable data-backed, strategic decision making around campaign mix, hiring plans, budgets, and resource allocation

  • Design and implement complex automations and workflows, including AI-powered processes, to increase team efficiency and scale

  • Manage and develop a team of two, fostering a culture of ownership, excellence, and continuous improvement

  • Serve as the go-to expert on marketing data quality, lead management, and lifecycle operations

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales Ops and Finance to ensure alignment on definitions, processes, and reporting

What you bring to the role:
  • 7+ years in B2B SaaS marketing operations, with strong command of Marketo (or equivalent MAP) and Salesforce

  • Comfort with deep data analysis. You can write queries, build dashboards, and dig into data to find answers without waiting for someone else

  • A track record of building or significantly improving marketing operations at a growth-stage company

  • Experience managing people and a genuine interest in developing talent

  • Strong strategic instincts. You understand how marketing operations connects to pipeline, revenue, and business outcomes

  • A bias toward action: you'd rather build something imperfect and iterate than wait for a perfect plan

  • Clear, direct communication. You can explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders without jargon

Bonus points if you have:
  • Experience building AI-powered workflows or automations (e.g., using LLMs, AI agents, or orchestration tools to streamline marketing processes)

  • Familiarity with data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery) and BI tools (Sigma, Looker, Tableau)

  • Experience with marketing attribution beyond last-touch (multi-touch modeling, influence reporting, or custom attribution frameworks)

  • Background working in data infrastructure, developer tools, or open-source ecosystems

The estimated salary for this role ranges from $190,000 - $230,000 based on leveling and geography, along with an equity component and a comprehensive benefits package. This range is merely an estimate; actual compensation may deviate from this range based on skills, experience, and qualifications.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
