Flexe is looking for a Director of Network Development who will focus on relationship management with Flexe’s 3PL and warehouse partner network.  This role will onboard new warehouse partnerships, coordinate with Flexe sales and partners to build solutions for client projects, and manage our existing warehouse network partnerships. The Strategic Market Director will own all aspects of the commercial relationships with our network, driving revenue growth and ensuring success across client projects.

This is a hub-based position. Team members must be located in or willing to relocate to one of our key hub cities: Seattle, WA; Dallas-Fort Worth, TX; or Atlanta, GA. Regular in-office presence 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) is expected in alignment with team and business needs.

Job Responsibilities

[40%] Primary Facilitator in Network Support of Deal Flow

  • Responsibility for representing Flexe’s warehouse offerings, through our partner network, in service of client projects and growth opportunities. 
  • Partnership with Flexe’s Business Development and Account Management teams on client engagements, as representative of warehouse network.
  • Find solutions, build and deliver proposals within the Flexe warehouse network for clients.
  • Provide commercial support for Flexe warehouse partners. Specific responsibilities include: 
    • Matching clients’ needs to Flexe network partner availability and capability.
    • Engagement with Flexe warehouse partners for opportunity review, assessment of fit, and proposal creation.
    • Facilitation of warehouse partner meetings and site visits
    • Ongoing facilitation of operational scope reviews, service level definition, pricing and contract negotiations. 
  • Provide ongoing support to Flexe warehouse partners to ensure successful project management through implementation and go-live.

[25%] Network Maintenance & Partner Management

  • Developing and growing relationships with our strategic 3PL partners. 
  • Performing regular check-ins with network partners. 
  • Taking escalations regarding partners from Operations and Account Management.
  • Working with below standard sites on remediation plans to bring performance in line with SLAs.
  • Develop strong understanding of partner capabilities including: understanding areas of client and vertical expertise, growth strategies and goals, organizational structures, optimized engagement paths, and space availability. 
  • Collect costing information (space and labor) in a standardized way across the market to support Flexe market intelligence. 

[15%] Partner Qualification Audits & Onboarding

  • Performing site validation audits to review partner fit for inclusion in the Flexe network. 
  • Partner assessment to handle Flexe use cases from simple capacity (pallet in-out), to retail/wholesale distribution, to complex fulfillment and parcel sortation.
  • Partner onboarding responsibilities include: education on Flexe Programs, contracting method and commercial model, technology/product functionality, sales engagements, operating and facility requirements, implementation best practices, etc.

[10%] Network Development

  • Networking with warehousing providers to evangelize the Flexe value proposition to potential partners and to bring additional capacity online.
  • Execute upon pursuit strategies by approaching, educating about Flexe programs, and onboarding warehouse operating partners to the Flexe network.
  • Ensure that Flexe’s network has the capacity and capabilities in primary markets to service client projects
  • Act as marketplace expert informing the organization of any changes in market conditions that would impact company goals or client needs.

[10%] Cross Functional Support

  • Supporting contract negotiations for the Commercial team as needed.
  • Supporting client onboardings as needed. 
  • Ongoing education on the features available to warehouse partners within the Flexe platform and systems.
  • Mentoring Flexe team members on best practices in client and partner management, as well as 3PL operations best practices.
  • Other special projects as required.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years experience in Solutions Management and/or Operations Management in 3rd party logistics business required
  • Deep knowledge of distribution and fulfillment warehouse operations required
  • Ability to credibly interface with warehouse leaders on a tactical/operational level as well as a strategic level
  • Experience in account management including running Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), involvement in quality, security and operational audits
  • Excellent communication skills in a remote environment: leading multi-party videoconferences and driving projects forward via email, as examples
  • Proficiency in Office, principally Excel and PowerPoint or Google suite principally Sheets and Slides
  • Experience with WMS, ERP and TMS systems required
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating with multiple stakeholders at a high level internally and externally
  • Able to travel up to 50%
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without restriction. We will not be sponsoring visas for this role at this time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Industrial Engineering and/or Client Management preferred
  • Experience with 3PL services agreements, procurement, and negotiations strongly preferred
  • Experience with CRM systems preferred

The salary range for this role is $97,750 to $137,500 depending, in part, on candidate location. Recruiting will confirm the specific range for the candidate location in the initial phone screen. All employees receive company equity as part of their compensation package. This role is eligible for a commission. The target commission for the role is $30,000 based on achievement against specific metrics.
