The Director position is a unique opportunity to work directly with a 25-person team managing over $24 billion of assets on behalf of MetLife's general account as well as affiliated and unaffiliated investors. MetLife's Alts/MMPC team portfolio has a three-fold mandate: (i) primary fund commitments across global private equity (buyout, venture, special situations, etc.), (ii) equity co-investments alongside private equity sponsors, and (iii) senior and junior lending to North American sponsor-backed portfolio companies.

How You'll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities):
- Source and track new opportunities with external investment managers in private equity funds and equity co-investments; lead the fund due diligence including review of data room, detailed portfolio review & analysis, and fundamental research of portfolio holdings as well working with legal department on the LPA / legal document review.
- Lead the preparation of investment memos and presentations for the investment committee.
- Meet with existing Private Equity sponsors to monitor and track the performance of existing investments, understand team / organizational / strategy changes and receive general updates on the state of the markets and potential investment opportunities.
- Conduct market research and stay updated on industry trends / developments including assisting in completion of sector reviews for various Private Equity portfolio segments.
- Analyze and monitor existing portfolio relationships through annual meeting attendance and detailed review of quarterly reports
- Train, mentor and onboard junior staff members.
- Maintain and update financial models and databases.
What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications):
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in due diligence, selection, monitoring and management of private equity fund and/or direct investments, with significant experience in Venture Capital primary commitments & direct investments preferred.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and interpersonal skills with ability to work independently and in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
- Proactive, detail-oriented individual with keen focus on performance and results.
- Excellent written and oral communication, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
What Can Give You an Edge (Additional Skills)
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or similar analytical/quantitative field;
- MBA or Masters and/or CFA is highly desirable.
