The Company:
Marigold is a fast-growing marketing technology company helping growing businesses build stronger customer relationships through its three core platforms: Emma, Campaign Monitor, and Vuture. We deliver powerful tools for email, SMS, and marketing automation that elevate engagement and drive real results. Marigold is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee with offices in Sydney and London.

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director, Product Design to lead our global design organization across the Emma and Campaign Monitor product lines. This role will play a pivotal part in shaping Marigold’s next generation of AI-powered marketing experiences, helping marketers and non-marketers alike create, automate, and optimize campaigns with confidence and creativity.  The Director, Product Design will elevate design as a strategic growth driver—embedding user insight, experimentation, and AI-driven innovation into every decision. You’ll lead a talented team of UX Designers and User Researchers, fostering collaboration across the U.S. and Australia to deliver intelligent, intuitive, and delightful customer experiences.

What You’ll Do:

  • Define and execute a unified design strategy that supports Product-Led Growth (PLG) and differentiates Marigold through AI-powered user experiences.

  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of designers and researchers, driving excellence in UX, usability, and user insight.

  • Partner with Product Management and Engineering to create frictionless experiences that accelerate customer onboarding, adoption, and retention.

  • Champion design as a strategic voice in roadmap and business discussions, ensuring user value is central to decision-making.

  • Build a modern user research function that integrates qualitative feedback with quantitative data to inform product direction.

  • Drive innovation in AI-first design—creating intuitive interfaces, intelligent assistants, and predictive experiences that enhance user confidence.

  • Establish shared design principles and scalable processes that empower speed, creativity, and consistency across teams.

  • Foster a collaborative, outcome-focused culture where experimentation and learning are encouraged.

About You:

You’re an empathetic, strategic design leader who blends creativity with operational rigor. You know how to balance user advocacy with business goals and are passionate about leveraging design and AI to simplify complexity, accelerate insight, and drive measurable impact.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience leading product design or UX functions within SaaS or digital product environments (PLG or MarTech experience a plus).

  • Proven success designing for growth metrics—onboarding, activation, engagement, and retention.

  • Deep understanding of modern AI UX principles, including transparency, trust, and explainability.

  • Experience integrating AI and automation into the design process (prototyping, research synthesis, or usability testing).

  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with a track record of building and inspiring high-performing teams.

  • Strong partnership skills across Product, Engineering, and Data—making design a shared language and source of insight.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience designing for marketers, creators, or non-technical users.

  • Background in user research, behavioral design, or experimentation frameworks.

  • Familiarity with distributed or global team leadership.

Our Benefits:

  • Competitive benefits including: medical/dental/vision insurance, life/accident/disabilities insurance, supplemental health benefits, FSA, EAP and pet insurance

  • Generous time off (we call it Open Time Away) as well as paid holidays and a birthday benefit day off.

  • 401k plan with a company match on your contributions.

  • Employee-centric and supportive remote work environment with flexibility.

  • Support for life events including paid parental leave.
