What you’ll do
Codex, AlixPartners’ firmwide Data Platform, is designed to unlock the full potential of the firm’s data by transforming decades of project insight into a strategic advantage. Success depends not only on a reliable, high-performing data lake, but also on deep organizational engagement—identifying valuable data pockets, evangelizing the platform’s value, and working with Legal and Compliance to prioritize and enable the ingestion of high-impact data assets.
As the Director of Product Management – Data Platform, you will be responsible for shaping and driving adoption of the platform across the firm. This role blends product thinking, stakeholder management, data governance coordination, and operational leadership. You will partner closely with data owners, engineering, compliance, and end users to deliver a seamless, high-impact platform experience that evolves with the firm’s needs.
This description is not designed to encompass a comprehensive listing of required activities, duties, or responsibilities.
- Build relationships with data owners: Engage with stakeholders across the firm to identify high-value data assets, foster partnerships, and uncover new ingestion opportunities. Establish clear stewardship and accountability for ongoing data quality, documentation, and lifecycle management.
- Ensure ongoing data relevance and ownership: For each onboarded dataset, secure a long-term point of contact—typically the data owner or delegate—responsible for maintaining the business accuracy and usefulness of the data.
- Operationalize data onboarding: Collaborate with the Data Platform engineering team to define and document repeatable processes for identifying, validating, and ingesting data from diverse sources.
- Translate user needs into platform features: Partner with AI/ML engineers, product teams, and consultants to gather requirements and shape platform capabilities that enable their workflows.
- Drive adoption and satisfaction: Champion the Data Platform across the organization, lead enablement efforts, and measure success through usage metrics and feedback mechanisms (e.g., NPS).
- Oversee documentation and knowledge sharing: Manage technical writing resources to maintain accurate, up-to-date data dictionaries, onboarding guides, and documentation to support scalable self-service.
- Serve as primary point of contact for users: Act as the first line of support for platform users—answering questions, triaging issues, and connecting teams with the right data assets or engineering support.
- Coordinate governance and data protection requirements: Work with Legal, Compliance, and IT Security to ensure that all ingested data meets appropriate requirements for data scrubbing, access controls, and contractual obligations.
- Balance governance and usability: Advocate for end users while working with governance teams to ensure solutions meet legal/compliance standards, implementation feasibility, and end user value.
- Manage platform release cadence: Own the release cycle for the Data Platform—including documentation, user communications, and change management—to ensure smooth rollout and adoption.
Stakeholder management & influence: Proven ability to build trust across technical and non-technical teams, navigate organizational dynamics, and drive alignment around data priorities.
Product thinking with technical fluency: Strong understanding of user needs and platform usability, combined with sufficient technical depth to partner effectively with data engineers and guide roadmap decisions.
Deep familiarity with platform data assets: Hands-on knowledge of data available within the platform to support user inquiries, troubleshoot issues, and guide teams toward the right assets for their needs.
Structured communication & documentation ownership: Skilled at distilling complexity into clear documentation, managing change communications, and driving enablement through consistent messaging.
Willingness to work outside of normal business hours, and in particular as unique projects/needs arise.
Ability to work full time in an office and remote environment; physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the workday
Must become familiar with, and promote and abide by, our Core Values as defined by the AlixPartners’ Code of Conduct and foster an inclusive environment with people at all levels of an organization
