Our work directly impacts global security, disaster response, climate monitoring, and the critical infrastructure that connects our world. We're a team of builders, thinkers, and problem-solvers who believe that the next generation of space operations will be powered by better data and smarter software. We move fast, we're not afraid to fail, and we believe the best ideas can come from anywhere—whether you're in engineering, sales, product, or operations. What You’ll Be Launching

The Director of Product Management leads the strategy, development, and execution of the company’s core platform capabilities, ensuring the foundation of the product is scalable, reliable, and aligned to business and customer needs. This role oversees the Product Management team, drives core roadmap priorities, and partners closely with Research, Product Strategy & Innovation, Engineering, Design, and Leadership to deliver the platform capabilities that support current execution and future growth.

In addition to product leadership, this role serves as the product program lead for the core platform - driving cross-functional planning, delivery coordination with development, prioritization, and execution discipline across teams. We are looking for a leader who can balance strategic product judgment with strong execution rigor and deep cross-functional partnership.

Slingshot Aerospace cares deeply about our commitment to company values, mission, and purpose. The core competencies we will be looking to identify include: intellectual agility, ability to develop innovative solutions, leadership, performance-orientation, and industry expertise.

Your Mission (Should you choose to accept it)

Core Platform Strategy & Roadmap

  • Lead product strategy and execution for the core platform, ensuring foundational capabilities support company goals, customer needs, and product growth.
  • Define and maintain the core platform roadmap, balancing customer needs, technical priorities, scalability, reliability, and business value.
  • Ensure the core platform is robust, scalable, and positioned to support both existing product needs and future innovation.

Product Program Leadership & Execution

  • Act as the product program lead for the core platform, coordinating cross-functional dependencies, delivery planning, execution rhythms, and alignment across teams.
  • Drive cross-functional decision-making to prioritize platform enhancements, improve execution, and strengthen product quality.
  • Establish a clear and repeatable approach for roadmap planning, product delivery, and ongoing platform evolution.

Team Leadership & Product Operating Model

  • Manage and develop the Product Management team, setting priorities, operating rhythms, and accountability across the core product organization.
  • Coach product managers on roadmap ownership, customer discovery, requirements definition, stakeholder alignment, and delivery discipline.
  • Create clear mechanisms for prioritization, product reviews, roadmap communication, and platform performance readouts.

Cross-functional Collaboration & Influence

  • Partner closely with Research, Product Strategy & Innovation, Engineering, Design, and Leadership to align platform investment with broader product and company strategy.
  • Translate technical tradeoffs and platform investments into clear customer, business, and operational outcomes.
  • Provide monthly readouts of platform success, performance, delivery progress, and key roadmap risks.

Pre-flight Checklist

  • 4+ years of experience in product management, platform product management, product operations, technical program leadership, or related leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated experience leading product teams and managing product managers in a technical product environment.
  • Proven success defining and delivering platform roadmaps that balance customer value, technical scalability, reliability, and business priorities.
  • Strong execution discipline, including experience coordinating cross-functional dependencies, development planning, delivery rhythms, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills, with the ability to influence engineering, design, research, leadership, and customer-facing teams.
  • Has previously held a Senior Manager or Director-level role.

 Bonus Cargo

  • Experience with B2B SaaS, data platforms, AI-enabled products, geospatial products, defense technology, or mission-critical software.
  • Experience serving as a product program lead or operating in a hybrid product management and program execution capacity.
  • Familiarity with platform architecture concepts, APIs, data pipelines, analytics, infrastructure, or enterprise-grade product capabilities.
  • Prior exposure to government, defense, intelligence, aerospace, or other highly regulated customer environments.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
