Salesforce Inc. seeks Director, Software Engineering in San Francisco, CA:

Job Duties: Deliver scale-out compute for the Salesforce core CRM application with dozens of revenue-generating, customer-facing features that use the platform to run Spark, Pig, Trino and other workloads via YARN. Deliver high-scale Spark-as-a-Service, Trino – as- a – Service, as a part of customer features and use cases. Run tens of thousands of Spark jobs daily in Salesforce data centers and on Public Cloud using the Spark Operator on Kubernetes. Create a high scale SQL-as-a-service using Trino on Kubernetes connected to a heterogeneous collection of data sources including columnar data on blob storage, traditional relational databases, and custom. Deliver Trino as a Service to teams inside Salesforce, building features and performing analytics. Contribute to Trino where needed and focus on the architectural and systems aspects of delivering Trino securely at scale. Develop innovative features on HBase in open source and deploy HBase at massive scale with greater than ~4Billion (~80TB) write requests per day and 600 million (500GB) read requests per day. Design and develop large scale distributed systems infrastructure and contribute to one of the largest scale secure deployments of open source HBase+Phoenix in the world. Deliver Kafka as a Service for Salesforce at the scale of trillions of messages per day across dozens of clusters in Salesforce data centers and on Public Cloud. Bridge clusters together and store streams and automation for tuning, operating, and scaling Kafka clusters. Deliver log analytics, monitoring and alerting, distributed tracing, and reporting infrastructure under the monitoring cloud platform. Build scalable and reliable services that collect and analyze applications and system metrics and provide timely access to system and application health and service performance. ˆHQ address additionally encompasses the following Salesforce locations in San Francisco: 350 Mission Street, 415 Mission Street, and 50 Fremont Street. The permanent position may be offered at any of these locations in San Francisco. Telecommuting is an option. Some travel to Salesforce offices may be required. 

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree (or its foreign degree equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering (any field), or a related quantitative discipline, and four (4) years of experience in the job offered or in any occupation in related field.  

A related technical degree required (Computer Science, Engineering (any field)).

Special Skill Requirements: (1) C++; (2) Distributed Systems; (3) Spark; (4) Kubernetes; (5) Hadoop; (6) Elastic Search; (7) MapReduce; (8) Kafka; (9) Agile development methodology; and (10) Test-Driven Development. Any suitable combination of education, training and/or experience is acceptable. Telecommuting is an option. Some travel to Salesforce offices may be required. 

Salary: $273,915.00 - $334,600.00 per annum.
