The Director of Strategy and Planning is responsible for leading strategic initiatives, developing commercial strategies, analyzing market trends, and ensuring competitive pricing while managing financial risks and stakeholder engagement.
Job Description
A Strategy Director role is a key leadership position that is part of the Electronic Systems Sector Strategy and Planning team. In this role you will work closely with your peers and collaborate across the sector with opportunities to lead sector wide strategic initiatives, develop and mature market strategies, shape our corporate investment strategy, and support acquisitions and divestitures. This role reports directly to the Electronic Systems Vice President of Strategy and Planning.
To expand the experience base of our current team, we are seeking multiple individuals with broad business or functional experience across the Aerospace and Defense industry, specifically in relevant BAE Systems Electronic Systems markets. Among the general activities listed above, we are seeking individuals with specific expertise in commerciality and how it applies within Aerospace and Defense. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing commercial strategies that maximize delivery to our customers, ensure competitive pricing, and mitigate financial risks. Responsibilities and tasks include, but are not limited to:
Commerciality and growth: This role requires an individual to develop and implement commercial strategies that align with corporate goals and long-term business objectives. - Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify opportunities for growth and pricing optimization. - Lead commercial negotiations for contracts, ensuring favorable terms and risk mitigation. -Work closely with business development, finance, legal, engineering, and program management teams to develop winning commercial proposals.
Financial and Risk Management: Establish pricing models and cost structures to maximize customer delivery while remaining competitive. -Identify and assess financial risks in contracts and business dealings, advising with regards to compliance with industry regulations and standards. -Monitor financial performance of contracts and programs, recommending adjustments to achieve key financial goals.
Stakeholder Engagement/Leadership: Act as a key advisor to executive leadership on commercial matters, providing insights on strategic decision-making. - Build and maintain relationships with key customers, suppliers, and industry partners. -Lead a team of commercial managers and analysts, fostering a culture of financial discipline and commercial excellence.
The role requires a strong understanding of defense contracting, international markets, and government procurement processes to drive sustainable business growth. Experience with other transaction authority and the conversion of product from FAR Part 15 to FAR Part 12 procurement is highly desirable.
This position can be based out of multiple BAE Systems sites across the US. Based on multiple factors, remote work is an option this position, at the discretion of the business.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $169630 - $288370
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Proven ability to deliver commerciality initiatives within A&D, specifically with OTA or FAR 12/15 conversion
- Proven ability in strategy development
- Proven ability to lead large cross-functional teams.
- Broad business or functional experience across BAE Systems or similar Aerospace and Defense prime contractor.
- Experience leading and implementing organizational and cultural change in a large organization.
- Experience managing and executing large strategic investments.
- 12+ Years with BS, 10+ Years with MS
- Eligible for Top Secret security clearance.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Existing customer and industry relationships.
- Experience with acquisitions and divestitures.
