What You Will Achieve
DSRD Necropsy/Histology Technician has the competency to perform all aspects of rodent and non-rodent routine necropsy and histology procedures with minimal guidance/supervision.
Understands, complies with and applies Necropsy/Histology goals, SOP's and guidelines including all regulatory, EHS, and IACUC requirements. Possesses specialized knowledge in veterinary anatomy and histology that he/she uses to support daily tasks.
With minimal guidance from colleagues and under general supervision, he/she participates in projects to support the work group and team goals (ex: data and/or specimen quality control, user guides, standard operating procedures, lesson plans).
How You Will Achieve It
  • In a structured environment, executes necropsy/histology techniques directed by study protocols (regulatory, exploratory, and investigative).
  • Performs all assigned routine necropsy and histology tasks in a timely manner and in agreement with the SOP and guidelines.
  • Communicates with the pathologist and the pathology laboratory manager to ensure proper collection, handling and submission of specimens as well as proper handling of all supportive documentation.
  • Ensures proper use and preventative maintenance of equipment and laboratory space.
  • Ensures full traceability of his/her work and of the specimens.
  • Follow standard procedures to complete tasks and maintain quality and compliance guidelines.
  • May adapt standard procedures by applying knowledge and experience to accommodate non-standard endpoints and to increase efficiency, throughput, and quality.
  • Independently lead and execute multiple laboratory-based projects with minimal supervision, applying established protocols, maintaining data integrity, and ensuring compliance with scientific and regulatory standards.
  • Demonstrates, reinforces, and may coach others on necropsy/histology techniques, regulatory requirements, such as GLP, and animal welfare.

Qualifications
Must-Have
  • HS Degree (or equivalent) with 2+ years relevant experience OR
  • A.S. degree (or equivalent) in a related field with 1-2 years relevant experience OR
  • B.S Degree (or equivalent) in a related field with 0-1 years relevant experience
  • Good Laboratory Practice proficiency
  • Has strong technical knowledge and skills of relevant disciplines (i.e. histology, anatomy)
  • Able to apply necropsy and/or histology technical skills across a variety of species for toxicity studies
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team daily

Nice-to-Have
  • ≥ 3 years of relevant experience in necropsy and/or histology
  • HT/HTL (ASCP) certification or eligible

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
The position requires performing ex vivo work and therefore the colleagues must be able to wear appropriate PPE. They must be able to physically perform the technical procedures that may require lifting, sitting, standing, walking, and bending.
NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
Weekend/holiday work will be required.
Work Location Assignment: On Premise
The salary for this position ranges from $26.86 to $44.77 per hour. In addition, this position offers eligibility for overtime, weekend, holiday and other pay premiums depending on the work schedule and the Company's policies.
