· Develop, execute, and maintain firmware/software test plans, test cases, and automated test scripts based on design requirements and IEC 62304 processes.
· Perform unit, integration, and system‑level testing of C firmware running on 32‑bit microcontrollers (e.g., STM32) using equipment such as debuggers, logic analyzers, and hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) setups.
· Document test protocols and results in compliance with FDA, ISO 13485, and company quality management system requirements.
· Analyze test outcomes, identify defects or performance gaps, and collaborate with senior engineers to propose and verify corrective actions.
· Maintain regression test suites and contribute to continuous integration (CI) pipelines for automated firmware builds and tests.
· Assist in code reviews and static analysis activities to improve code quality and maintainability.
· Support system verification and validation activities, including risk management inputs and traceability to software requirements.
· Participate in cross‑functional design reviews, providing a testing perspective and capturing lessons learned for future projects.
· Contribute to the creation and maintenance of development tools, scripts, and fixtures that enhance test efficiency.
· Communicate testing progress and findings clearly to engineering and quality stakeholders.

Position Qualifications:
Experience and Education
· B.S. degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
· 0‑2 years of professional or academic experience developing and/or testing embedded firmware in C.
· Exposure to medical device software development life cycle and standards (IEC 62304, ISO 14971) preferred.
· Experience with version control (Git) and issue tracking (JIRA or similar).
· Familiarity with unit‑testing frameworks (Ceedling, Unity, CppUTest) and debugging tools (JTAG/SWD debuggers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).

Skills and Abilities

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
