FlexGen is seeking an Energy Storage Application Engineer to support the development and delivery of cutting-edge energy storage projects. In this role, you will partner with our Business Development and Technical Support teams to provide pre-sales engineering, system design guidance, and technical expertise for Energy Storage Systems and FlexGen’s Energy Management System (EMS), HybridOS.


You will act as a trusted technical advisor in customer engagements—bridging hardware, software, and market applications—to ensure FlexGen delivers solutions that meet both technical and commercial needs. From project development and opportunity evaluation through contract execution, you will help drive adoption of FlexGen’s industry-leading EMS and BESS solutions.


Key Responsibilities:

Technical & Project Support

  • Support preliminary ESS design, system sizing, and power system analysis.
  • Provide technical guidance on energy storage solutions during project development and pre-sales phases.
  • Collaborate with system engineering and software engineering teams to ensure accurate technical solutions.
  • Partner with the Sales and Business Development teams to position HybridOS™ EMS and ESS solutions for new opportunities.
  • Partner with Business Operations team to prepare and deliver technical presentations and proposals highlighting EMS and BESS capabilities, system performance, and integration benefits.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in customer meetings, demonstrating the value of FlexGen’s EMS and BESS solutions


Customer & Market Engagement

  • Serve as a technical point of contact for customers, supporting system design, interconnection requirements, and market-specific considerations
  • Partner with the Business Development team to identify strategic opportunities and provide technical input for proposals
  • Contribute to project estimations and cost modeling for ESS projects

Commercial Support

  • Assist in contract negotiations by ensuring technical requirements are accurately reflected in agreements
  • Provide clear technical documentation and responses to customer inquiries during proposal and contracting stages


Position Requirements:

  • Associate degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience
  • Strong technical aptitude in electrical or power systems engineering
  • Excellent listening, communication, and customer engagement skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and remain professional under pressure
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel
  • Ability to pass background and toxicology screening
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Power Systems Engineering
    • Professional certification or license (e.g., EIT, PE, PMP)
    • Experience with AutoCAD, PowerBI, Visual Basic, Microsoft PowerPoint
    • Prior experience in energy storage, renewable energy, or utility-scale power projects
    • Familiarity with grid interconnection requirements and utility/ISO processes
    • Exposure to contract negotiation or technical sales engineering
