Our innovative benefit solutions and services are developed and delivered by a diverse group of unique people. We encourage you to be your authentic self - we like you that way.
We’re growing quickly and investing in the next generation of our ICHRA and health-benefits platform — a reliable, compliant, and scalable system that makes it easier for people to access and manage healthcare.
To get there, we’re building strong, empowered engineering teams led by thoughtful managers who value people, process, and technology equally.
A Little More About The role:
As an Engineering Manager at Gravie, you’ll be accountable for your team’s delivery and long-term success. This means leading through others, creating the conditions where engineers can do their best work, ensuring strong collaboration with Product and Design, and helping shape how Gravie builds and delivers software.
This role is not about writing code every day; it’s about building an environment where great code gets written and teams achieve high performance. You’ll focus on developing people, refining processes, guiding technical direction, partnering with Product Owners and delivering measurable business value.
You will:
· Build and grow a high-performing team through clear expectations, consistent coaching, and a culture of ownership and accountability.
· Partner closely with Product to define and deliver value, ensuring your team’s work connects to customer and business outcomes.
· Establish predictable and transparent team operations across planning, sprint execution, and continuous improvement.
· Support engineers in making strong technical decisions while reinforcing Gravie’s standards for quality, security, and reliability.
· Lead performance management for your team — set goals, measure results, and provide ongoing feedback and development
opportunities.
· Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver end-to-end outcomes, removing blockers and maintaining alignment across teams.
· Drive continuous improvement in engineering operations including flow efficiency, quality, release frequency, and overall delivery health.
· Champion the thoughtful use of AI and automation in the development lifecycle to improve quality, speed, and developer experience.
· Model Gravie’s values by fostering a supportive, inclusive, and purpose-driven team culture.
· Provide clear visibility into team goals, risks, and progress through data-informed reporting.
Who You Are:
· Experienced engineering leader with a track record of building or scaling teams in a growth-stage or transformation environment.
· Skilled in engineering operations and process design, capable of setting up frameworks that support predictable, high-quality delivery.
· A strong coach who develops people, builds trust, and drives performance through clarity and support.
· Pragmatic about technology — you have technical depth, but your focus is on enabling others to make smart decisions and move fast safely.
· Collaborative partner who aligns engineering, product, and design around shared goals and value delivery.
· Strategic thinker who understands how technology decisions shape long-term business outcomes.
· Passionate about innovation and the practical application of AI and modern engineering practices to improve productivity.
· Known for follow-through, structure, and building high-trust teams that deliver.
You bring:
· 7+ years of hands-on development experience within an agile environment.
· 3+ years experience leading high-performing engineering teams
· Demonstrated success building teams or maturing team practices, culture, and performance systems at startup pace.
· Background in software engineering with experience across modern architectures and cloud-based systems
· Experience and deep understanding of multiple Agile methodologies and when to utilize them.
· You must be eligible to work in the United States without need of sponsorship now or in the future.
Extra credit:
· Healthcare experience
· Previous experience at a high growth company.
