Role Overview

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager who’s hungry to drive the technical direction of our product and lead a small, high-performing team that ships with impact. You’ll be the technical counterpart to our Product Lead — working side-by-side to shape roadmaps, make tradeoffs, and ensure we’re building the right things the right way.

All of our engineering managers write code regularly, so you should bring both the desire and ability to stay hands-on with development — ideally with a strong focus on frontend architecture and user-facing experiences.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Lead and grow a small, high-performing product engineering team with a strong emphasis on building exceptional frontend experiences.

  • Partner closely with Product Lead and broader engineering team to align vision, execution, and outcomes.

  • Drive technical decisions, architecture, and delivery excellence.

  • Build a culture of ownership, speed, and continuous learning.

  • Raise the bar on our code quality, setting standards and regularly providing hands-on guidance.

  • Improve and set the standard(s) for testing strategy.

  • Set standards for product incident management and follow-through.

Who You Are
  • 4-6 years (minimum) of experience managing engineers, with proven results.

  • Strong technical background and ability / desire to regularly contribute code — particularly in modern frontend frameworks and TypeScript-based environments.

  • Track record of driving product-focused engineering outcomes.

  • Excellent communicator who thrives on tight collaboration, ideally in small, fast-moving team environments.

Bonus Points
  • Prior product engineering management of B2B applications, ideally in a crypto environment.

Tech Stack & Tooling
  • Languages: JS, TS, NextJS, React

  • Databases: PostgreSQL

  • Cloud & Infra: GCP, AWS

  • AI tooling: You should be comfortable utilizing AI tools thoughtfully and responsibly to optimize workflows and drive smarter solutions.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
