Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of talented email detection analysts. Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation within the team. Conduct regular 1:1s, provide constructive feedback, and support career development.
- Strategic Planning & Roadmap: Define and drive the team's roadmap, prioritizing improving detection efficacy. Align team goals with broader organizational objectives and contribute to the overall Intel team strategy.
- Technical Guidance & Oversight: Provide technical leadership and guidance on complex email threat analysis, detection methodologies, and data quality initiatives.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner closely with data science, product, and engineering teams to translate threat intelligence into actionable product features and scalable defense mechanisms. Collaborate with external stakeholders and security communities to stay ahead of emerging threats.
- Operational Excellence: Guide the team in defining and implementing robust processes and automations for 24x7 coverage of miscategorizations and streamlining daily operational tasks. Ensure the team proactively monitors data quality and identifies areas for improvement.
- Communication & Reporting: Effectively communicate team progress, challenges, and strategic direction to senior leadership, stakeholders, and the wider organization. Represent the team's work internally and externally, including through blog posts and presentations.
- Hiring & Growth: Actively participate in the hiring process to expand the team, identifying and attracting top talent who can contribute to Cloudflare's mission and culture.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- 2+ years of experience in an Management role
- 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with a strong focus on email security, threat intelligence, or detection engineering.
- Deep understanding of the email threat landscape, common attack vectors, and the latest security trends related to email-borne threats (e.g., phishing, malware, BEC).
- Solid technical background, with a strong understanding of email authentication protocols (SPF, DMARC, DKIM), email header analysis, and experience with detection development (e.g., YARA rules, regular expressions).
- Proven ability to mentor, coach, and develop staff.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
- A strong passion for cybersecurity and a deep commitment to building a more secure Internet.
Bonus
- Working knowledge of SQL and version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Familiarity with AI/Machine Learning concepts and their application in security detection.
