Why Clarium?

The healthcare industry overspends on its supply chain by over $25B each year, the result of fragmented data, inefficient workflows, and wasted supplies. Clarium is fixing that. Our AI-powered platform, Astra OS, gives hospitals end-to-end visibility into their supply chain operations, automating workflows and surfacing actionable insights so supply chain teams can focus on what matters most: patient care. We're trusted by some of the world's leading health systems, including Yale New Haven Health, Stanford, Geisinger, Cleveland Clinic, and Kaiser Permanente.

Founded in 2020, Clarium has raised $43M in total funding. Our Series A was led by Northzone, with participation from General Catalyst, AlleyCorp, Kaiser Permanente Ventures, Texas Medical Center Ventures, and 1984 Ventures.

The Opportunity

Clarium is scaling Astra OS across more of the country's leading health systems, and the features our users touch every day are at the center of that growth. We're looking for a highly technical Engineering Manager to lead a team building the end-user-facing functionality that powers our core product experience; the surfaces where hospital supply chain teams actually do their work.

In this role, you'll own technical direction, system design, and delivery for your team's products while managing and developing the engineers on it. You'll stay close to the code and the product, partnering with Engineering, Data, and Product to shape how users interact with the platform while keeping a strong technical foundation behind the scenes.

This role is ideal for someone who doesn't want to choose between leading people and staying hands-on. You'll set strategy and grow a team, but you'll also be writing code, in code reviews, and making architecture decisions, with real ownership over both the "what" and the "how" at a stage where your work genuinely shapes the product.

In This Role You Will
  • Define the technical strategy for your team's products and collaborate cross-functionally to align technical solutions with business goals

  • Lead technical execution across system design, architecture, and operational excellence to ensure quality, reliability, and scalability

  • Write production code and contribute to code reviews and architecture decisions alongside your team

  • Drive user-facing features from concept to production, translating product requirements into technical plans with high accountability

  • Remove blockers and establish processes that enable your team to move quickly and communicate effectively

  • Hire, mentor, and grow engineers, providing clear and actionable feedback

What You'll Bring
  • 6+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years leading engineers as an engineering manager

  • Experience leading teams building end-user-facing features, with a deep care for product quality, usability, and performance

  • Ability to translate product requirements into technical plans and drive projects from concept to production

  • Hands-on experience with our core stack: Python, React, and TypeScript, including shipping production code and a desire to stay hands-on writing code in this role

  • A strong collaborator who builds alignment across Engineering, Data, and Product teams

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences and keep leadership informed through clear, actionable updates

Nice to Have
  • Experience in healthcare, supply chain, or another complex regulated domain

  • Experience scaling teams or processes in an early-stage startup environment

Skills & Tools You'll Use

Need to Know: Python · React · TypeScript

Nice to Know: AWS · SQL · Data pipeline / ETL workflows

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
