Convey (formerly Message Broadcast) is seeking an experienced and dynamic Telecommunications Sales Executive with a strong carrier, messaging, and network sales background. Experience selling into the SMS resellers, independent software providers, and enterprises with applications that utilize SMS messaging. The ideal candidate will have at least 5-7 years of experience in messaging sales, understand long-code and short-code value propositions, the competitive SMS carrier market, and current market rate structures. Optimally, this person can demonstrate a proven track record of exceeding sales targets and fostering long-term client relationships in large, complex accounts in North America. 

 

Each client will have distinct and unique needs, and your role will be to understand the market, the client, and our solutions so you can creatively solve their unique business challenges. In many cases, this will be a competitive environment where your approach will require you to position Convey's competitive value proposition to differentiate our products and services. 

 

What you’ll do: 

  • Drive Revenue Growth for the Unit: Identify, prospect, and close new business opportunities within assigned accounts and geography. 

  • Manage full sales cycles: From initial conversion by you or the Sales Development Team, drive the close and growth of accounts 

  • Uncover new opportunities: Grow our existing customers and target accounts 

  • Provide timely and accurate forecasts: Offer clear visibility on sales and revenue performance by actively managing your pipeline of opportunities and weekly sales forecasts 

  • Lead Generation: Prospect and generate leads within greenfield and competitive accounts using various channels, networking, attending industry events/conferences, cold calling, and leveraging existing relationships you have in the industry. 

  • Client Relationship Management: Develop trusted relationships across all levels and teams in your accounts, including C-level executives, decision-makers, and other important stakeholders. 

  • Product Representation: Primarily represents the messaging products of our Company’s portfolio. Prepare and deliver compelling presentations, proposals, and product demonstrations tailored to the specific needs of each customer and prospect. Understand the product portfolio of the wider organization to enable better solutioning and identify where opportunities for the Convey portfolio can add value. Work with product experts to position those extended products to complement the SMS solutions sold in Aerialink.  

  • Compliance Education and Liaison: Be familiar with the ongoing evolution of compliance changes in the messaging marketplace.  Work with our compliance groups to educate customers on how to utilize our services within the current industry regulations and guidelines. 

  • Solution Selling: Understand the market and client needs and collaborate with internal teams in technology and product to build the optimum solution and pricing models for your customers 

  • Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contract terms and pricing agreements to close deals while maximizing profitability. Understand the dynamics of market pricing based on margin analysis and volume commitments using tiered price structures.  

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Leverage and coordinate cross-functional internal teams (Legal, Engineering, Security, Marketing, Product) to efficiently navigate complex sales cycles 

  • Sales Pipeline Management: Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline of new, upsell, and cross-sell opportunities. Maintain sales contacts, prospects pipeline, and forecast information in Salesforce.com. 

  • Industry Knowledge: Stay updated on industry trends, compliance guidelines, regulatory changes, and competitive landscape to identify new opportunities and maintain a competitive edge. 

 

Qualifications:  

What you have - Required Skills:  

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field. An MBA is a plus. 

  • Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years working in B2B sales to carriers, resellers, or roles with enterprise customers in the telecommunications or SMS applications sector. 

  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the messaging industry, including market trends, challenges, and unique regulatory environments. 

  • Skills: 

  • Strong networking and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage with senior-level executives. 

  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills. 

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

  • Strong negotiating, influencing, and interpersonal skills. 

  • Willingness to support Finance and Accounting with payment and collections activities where appropriate. 

  • Tech-savvy and comfortable in a field that combines elements of multiple disciplines (technology, marketing, etc.) 

  • Travel: Ability to travel as needed to meet with clients and attend industry events (35-50% travel could be required at various times of the year).
