Own end-to-end event logistics (conferences, workshops, offsites, Tech Talks), run CEO travel/scheduling systems, capture post-event learnings in a single source of truth, and provide broad operational support including onboarding, documentation, and establishing a San Francisco office presence.
The summary above was generated by AI

Pluralis Research is pioneering Protocol Learning - a fully decentralised way to train and deploy AI models that opens this layer to individuals rather than well resourced corporates. By pooling compute from many participants, incentivising their efforts, and preventing any single party from controlling a model's full weights, we're creating a genuinely open, collaborative path to frontier-scale AI.

As our Events & Operations Associate, you'll own how Pluralis shows up in the world. Our conference presence, workshops, offsites and hosted events. And you'll keep the operational machinery behind a fast-moving research company running cleanly.

This is a hands-on, execution-first role working directly with our CEO and Chief of Staff. In the past year alone we've run five to six events at ICML, locked in an official NeurIPS workshop, launched a Tech Talks series and opened planning for ICLR. We need someone who can own all of it end to end and then some.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own event logistics end to end: team offsites, conference presence (NeurIPS, ICLR and beyond), our Tech Talks series, and dinners and hosted meetings for our CEO.

  • Drive post-event follow-through: capture details, summaries and learnings in one source of truth so every event makes the next one better.

  • Systemise travel and scheduling for our CEO with an agent-first mindset - the goal is to build dialled, repeatable systems, not to be a permanent EA.

  • Provide broad operational support across the business: executing onboarding flows, polishing documents and communications, and standing up our presence in multiple countries.

What We're Looking For
  • 2–5 years in venture capital, top-tier consulting, or an early-stage or hyper-growth startup. Running community or platform at a T1/T2 VC firm counts

  • A steep career trajectory: you've been promoted early, handed scope beyond your title, or trusted with things your years wouldn't normally earn you

  • Demonstrated experience running events end to end: venues, logistics, budgets, vendors, on-the-day delivery

  • Experience coordinating events across multiple countries and timezones

  • Experience working directly with founders and CEOs to drive mindshare

  • A track record of flawless execution. You ship, you follow through, and things you own don't fall through the cracks

  • A systems mindset. You'd rather build something once that runs itself than repeat a task forever

  • Strong written communication. Much of this role is turning chaos into clear documentation

  • High discretion working closely with founders and executives

Nice to Have
  • Experience coordinating conference presence or side events in tech, AI/ML, research or crypto communities.

  • Hands-on use of AI tools and agents to automate your own workflows.

FYI's
  • We only hire in Australia and the United States. Visa sponsorship is limited to these countries.

  • Applicants must have professional-level English proficiency (written and spoken).

  • Pluralis is a remote team across Australia and the US. You'll need to be comfortable working across timezones and collaborating with a diverse, distributed group.

  • Recruiters: we aren't looking for agency support at this time. We'll reach out if we need help.

Backed by Union Square Ventures and other tier-1 investors, we're a world-class, deeply technical team of ML researchers. Pluralis is unapologetically ideological. We view the world as a better place if we are able to implement what we are attempting, and Protocol Learning as the only plausible approach to preventing a handful of massive corporations monopolising model development, access and release, and achieving massive economic capture. If this resonates, please apply.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
