GHD is committed to supporting the U.S. Navy’s mission on the West Coast and in the INDOPACOM region. GHD plans and designs critical facilities and infrastructure to support Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command and its customers, including the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Air Force. GHD is a trusted advisor and delivery partner to NAVFACSYSCOM and other U.S. Navy agencies.

Who are we looking for?   

As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Business Development Leader – US Navy Western US. The BD Leader – US Navy Western US will be responsible for cultivating strong client and partner relationships, driving proactive client engagement, and developing and implementing business development plans, capture plans, and sales to the US Navy, in particular, NAVFAC Southwest, Northwest and EXWC.  This position will be based out of any key GHD office serving the Navy in the western US, including, but not limited to, San Diego or Seattle.

Working with an energetic and high-performing team, the BD Leader – US Navy Western US will be responsible for:

  • Developing and driving goals, objectives, and actions for the US Navy program in alignment with GHD’s Market and Region plans, with a primary focus on the Western US
  • Leading business development, client engagement, and client service management
  • Monitoring delivery, making sure that GHD teams deliver high quality work products on time
  • Developing and maintaining high-value relationships with Navy clients 
  • Developing and maintaining strategic relationships with large and small business industry partners, including design-build construction contractors and other professional services firms
  • Developing new project opportunities for GHD with existing clients
  • Expanding GHD’s Navy client base in alignment with GHD West Region plans
  • Representing GHD in client meetings and industry forums
  • Participating in professional organizations such as SAME to promote the GHD brand
  • Identifying and tracking IDIQ and design-build opportunities and leading capture strategy development and implementation for key pursuits
  • Leveraging knowledge of Navy mission priorities, organizational structures, and FEC-specific requirements to identify and capture work
  • Conducting competitive analysis, monitoring market trends, and developing strategies to position GHD effectively within the Navy market
  • Collaborating closely with proposal managers and proposal teams to develop compliant, compelling, and strategically aligned proposals that reflect capture strategy and client insights
  • Leveraging his/her network to attract new business development and delivery talent to GHD

People

  • Adapting well to a highly collaborative work environment
  • Communicating regularly with Navy Program Manager, Navy Client Engagement Team, and GHD Market and Regional leaders
  • Collaborating with design and delivery organization leaders to facilitate high quality project delivery

Performance

  • Leading, supporting, and monitoring strategic pursuits in the Navy program
  • Developing goals and actions for the Navy program in alignment with the Market and Region plans
  • Leading strategic pursuits in the Navy program, with a primary responsibility for winning new IDIQ contracts with key NAVFAC entities
  • Establishing relationships with design-build construction contractors and winning design-build opportunities
  • Ensuring that revenue objectives are attained and good profit is earned on the work 

For success in this position, you will possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor and/or Master’s degree from an accredited school in an engineering or related technical field including architecture
  • 15+ years in a client development/account management role with US Navy clients
  • Strong ability to cultivate trusted, long-term relationships with NAVFAC leadership, contracting officers, decisionmakers, and industry partners
  • Proven strategic thinker with successful experience developing and implementing market plans
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 
  • Ability and willingness to travel to industry events and client offices as needed
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License or Registered Architect (RA) License a plus
