Overview

This is a fantastic opportunity to have broad business engagement & impact by being part of the Global Partner Incentives Controllership team within Corporate Accounting. Microsoft spends billions on Partner Incentives each year across several businesses, programs, regions & subsidiaries. This is a very dynamic & high-profile area with significant visibility at executive management level in Corporate and in the Field.

As the Finance Manager - Partner Incentives, you will be responsible for providing timely, accurate & compliant incentives accounting and controllership activities for a set of global Partner Incentives programs. Responsibilities include managing the process to ensure that Global Partner Incentives models are correct & fully accrued each month, participating in Global Program Risk Assessment and Audit Readiness, verifying in partnership with Operations and Engineering teams that end-to-end incentive processing, payments, accounting and related financial controls are operating effectively.

Responsibilities

Business Partnership

  • Gain understanding of the Partner Incentive programs by establishing partnership with business teams that design the programs, business finance teams that model the programs for financial feasibility, engineering teams that build program capability and calculation, and the operation program management teams that execute on the program.
  • Engage with various stakeholders for program controllership and financial planning and analysis activities such as ensuring accuracy of accrual models, appropriate accounting and true-up activities and manage the close process for the programs.
  • Provide active support and proactive tools to other stakeholders to allow for visibility of real time activity as well as providing responses to queries on an ongoing basis.

Financial Modelling & Accounting

  • Understand the underlying design, data inputs, calculation nuances, systematic configuration, as well as payment methodologies and resulting accounting impact for each of those elements for the global incentive programs.
  • Lead and manage Global Partner Incentives accrual models building and managing true-up activities for a set of channel incentive programs.
  • Lead and manage the One Finance Transaction team for ensuring appropriate accounting, month-end, and quarterly activities and ensure accuracy across all regional operating centers.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Obtain understanding of key financial results and movements across all global incentive programs to summarize and discuss with key business partners.
  • Drive thoughtful analysis based on data trends to influence program design.
  • Ongoing monitoring of actual spend against budget for pertinent global incentive programs, as well as leading actions needed for any expected shortfalls.

Controls & Compliance

  • Ensure that end-to-end controls are in place & implemented by Operations for all Partner Incentives program payments. In partnership with controls and compliance, review and monitor that controls are designed and operating effectively.
  • Collation of evidence and qualitative discussion of monthly financial results across global programs to support SOX controls.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 2+ years accounting or finance experience
    • OR Master's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 1+ year(s) accounting or finance experience
    • OR equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional accounting qualification (CPA/ CFA/ ACA / ACCA/ CIMA).
  • 4+ years of working experience in accounting, controllership or finance roles.
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel as well as data analysis skill set.
  • Experience handling financial close and analysis responsibilities.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills with ability to design and implement solutions.
  • Demonstrated influencing skills, with proven ability to influence executives and business decision makers.
  • Experience engaging with virtual global teams and providing leadership across finance teams.
  • Ability to work well in matrixed organization and dealing with ambiguity.

Accounting IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $72,800 - $144,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $95,100 - $157,900 per year.
