Finance Project Manager

Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Project Manager to join our Ashland Inc. business in a remote role. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the finance and project management functions. This position will report to the Continuous Improvement Program Manager. 

 The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Responsible for managing multiple projects, from beginning to end, with accountability for project execution
  • Lead major projects, identify process issues and recommend improvements to senior leaders.  The project portfolio will evolve with business needs, but major examples include standard cost transformation, improving logistics analytics/forecasting, improving Cost per Unit forecasting, Warehouse analytics, and inventory forecast and analysis (improving slow moving, off grade analysis and related processes)
  • Provide clear and consistent communication, both oral and written, to all project stakeholders on key project elements such as scope, timeline, issues, etc.
  • Drive follow-up on all action items assigned to the project team and stakeholders to ensure timely execution of critical tasks, milestones and deadlines.
  • Create and maintain project tracking tools to ensure all parties are clear on expectations and responsibilities to maintain accountability for all activities
  • Mentor and coach team members and encourage positive team atmosphere.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% to visit and oversee projects on location
  • Actively contribute to the organizational goals by taking initiative, executing on goals and focusing on performance and safety
  • Improve the organization capacity and capabilities through building collaborative relationships, optimizing diverse talent and utilizing positive communications and influence with others

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

  • 5+ years of Project Management, Accounting, or Finance experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a Business or Engineering discipline
  • Strong knowledge of Project Management tools and related disciplines
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as a team and or independently
  • Demonstrated responsible and ethical behavior at all times
  • The ability to help the company drive greater value through understanding the business, making complex decisions and creating the new and different

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

 Prior knowledge and/or practical experience in the chemical, pharmaceutical, supply chain and or other related industries

  • Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g. MS., MBA, PMP, CPA, CMA)
  • Well versed in MS Project, MS Office, and other project management software
  • Strong Organizational and Time Management Skills
  • Customer Focus (internal & external) and Relationship Building Skills
