The Boeing Company is seeking a Flight Test Engineering (FTE) Manager to join the Boeing Test & Evaluation organization in Seattle, WA, supporting the growing franchise of Mobility & Surveillance platforms (including E-7 and KC-46 aircraft).
The FTE management team leads a dynamic organization in performing developmental and certification flight testing of Boeing military commercial derivative aircraft. Testing is conducted primarily out of Boeing Field in Seattle, as well as occasional remote testing at a variety of domestic and international sites. In this position, you will manage flight test engineering teams and projects, partner with program and functional leaders, demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills, and utilize your effective problem-solving abilities to support our test programs.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Provide oversight of engineering employees responsible for test planning, definition and authorization of airplane configuration changes, test planning, test conduct and test data analysis in support of airplane development and sustaining flight test programs
  • Provide leadership in the areas of test program development and integration, scheduling and execution, trade studies and departmental processes/policies
  • Assess and lead resolution of issues impacting test program progress, including root cause corrective action to prevent recurrence
  • Utilize operational skills to raise team performance and meet cost, schedule and quality commitments
  • Develop and maintain budgets, schedules, earned value metrics and performance measures
  • Build relationships and partnerships with customers, peers, suppliers, direct reports and other stakeholders
  • Manage, develop and motivate employees
  • Occasional travel is required to support remote testing for up to 4-6 weeks at a time

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work on-site at Seattle, WA.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required
  • This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR completion of the Boeing internal course "Exploring Leadership"
  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering related role
  • 5+ years of experience working in a lab test, flight test, or similar test environment
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally as needed
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Aerospace, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Active U.S. Security Clearance
  • 3+ years of experience leading or managing projects that involved cross-functional or cross-business unit teams
  • 3+ years of experience of collaborative leadership and teaming with internal and external stakeholders
  • 3+ years of experience leading or managing large or complex teams of managers and/or non-management employees
  • 3+ years of experience leading teams in a developmental lab and/or flight test environment
  • 1+ years of experience with Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Flight test program experience and technical domain knowledge
  • Ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels
  • Strategic planning experience and ability to assess and improve organizational health to create a culture of high performance
  • Experience in project management and the ability to work on several projects simultaneously, including experience collecting, interpreting data, and managing high level projects
  • Experience working directly with military customers or regulatory agencies on programs
  • Experience with large, transport category aircraft test programs

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary Pay Range: $151,300 - $204,700
