Piedmont Global is a Strategic Globalization Organization (SGO) helping organizations communicate with intelligence, operate with cultural fluency, and connect effectively across communities and markets, is expanding its network of professional interpreters in Spokane, WA, and the surrounding areas.

We are looking for Marshallese Interpreters interested in supporting meaningful communication through on-site (OSI), video remote (VRI), and over-the-phone (OPI) interpretation assignments. Whether you're an experienced interpreter or a bilingual professional with relevant interpreting experience looking to expand your opportunities, we'd love to hear from you.

These are 1099 Independent Contractor opportunities. Assignments may be offered on-site, via VRI, or over the phone based on client needs, interpreter qualifications, location, and availability.

Interpreter Functions
  • Facilitate clear and accurate communication between English speakers and speakers of your target language.
  • Interpret conversations without additions, omissions, or changes to the speaker's intended meaning.
  • Preserve the meaning, tone, and intent of the original communication.
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and applicable interpreting standards.
  • Communicate proactively about any circumstances that may affect an assignment.





Requirements
Technical Requirements
  • Access to a laptop or desktop computer with at least 4 GB of RAM and a broadband (high-speed) internet connection.
  • Access to a mobile phone as a backup device.
  • Access to a headset that connects to the computer or mobile phone using a cable (wired headset; wireless headsets are not permitted).
  • A quiet, distraction-free workspace or home office suitable for professional interpreting.
Minimum Qualifications
Interpreters – Non-Medical Settings
  • At least two (2) years of interpreting experience, either paid or volunteer.
  •  Two (2) relevant professional references who can attest to the candidate’s interpreting experience OR one (1) relevant professional reference and one (1) relevant professional letter of recommendation.
  • Native-level proficiency in English and the other languages.
Medical Interpreters – Healthcare Settings
  • Certification as a medical interpreter through a 40-hour medical interpreter training program or equivalent, specifically focused on healthcare interpreting (e.g., CHIT – Community Healthcare Interpreter Training).
  •  At least two (2) years of professional interpreting experience, either paid or volunteer, in a healthcare setting.
  • Two (2) relevant professional references who can attest to the candidate’s interpreting experience **OR** one (1) relevant professional reference and one (1) relevant professional letter of recommendation.
Desired, but Not Required
  • University degree in Interpretation or a related field.
  • Certificate of professional interpreter training, with at least 40 hours of training.
Supporting Documentation
If available, interpreters should provide documentation of: Relevant certifications. Language proficiency or interpreter assessment results from other organizations, such as testing centers or other language service providers (LSPs).
