Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fund Accountant to join our team supporting our newly launched private investments group, Lenora Capital. The Fund Accountant will play a critical role in managing the accounting and financial reporting functions for a series of closed and open-end private markets funds, and will also be responsible for accounting activities related to donor-advised funds. Your Role:

Fund Accounting:

  • Perform day-to-day accounting and reporting activities for private markets funds
  • Interface with fund service platforms and administrators, and review outputs
  • Review and analyze capital structures for investments to determine what the accounting and related data requirements should be between the investment and fund
  • Oversee capital call, distribution, and valuation activity processes
  • Review investor reports and financial statements K-1s and regulatory filings for accuracy and completeness while meeting all internal and external reporting deadlines and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the Fund’s subscription credit facility, including draws, paydowns and reporting requirements.
  • Manage the annual audit process, including providing documentation and support to external auditors.
  • Manage technical research and application of US GAAP to accounting issues pertaining to investment companies and issues occurring in the investments.
  • Automate and document processes as needed
  • Perform any additional responsibilities that may be required by management in support of ongoing investment activity
  • Work collaboratively with technology and support personnel and maintain thorough knowledge of system capabilities and best practices
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, investor reports, in accordance with GAAP and relevant regulatory requirements.

Donor Advised Fund (DAF) Accounting:

  • Manage the accounting functions for donor-advised funds, including recording contributions, distributions, reconciling accounts, and investment activities.
  • Use problem solving skills to design and improve workflows for client donations.
  • Prepare periodic financial statements and reports for donor-advised funds, ensuring compliance with donor restrictions and regulatory guidelines.
  • Work closely with donor advisors and charitable organizations to address accounting inquiries and provide support as needed.
  • Manage accounting operations for Brighton Jones affiliated nonprofit foundation. 

Your Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Certified Public Accountant with Big 4 accounting firm experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge related to investment company accounting, partnerships, and/or real estate accounting
  • Extensive understanding of U.S. GAAP, SEC regulatory requirements for private equity and donor-advised funds
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex accounting issues
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting work experience
  • Excellent attention to detail and dedication to accurate and high-quality work
  • Ability to problem solve and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Financial statement preparation, including consolidations and footnotes
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in use of accounting system and related technologies (i.e. Netsuite)

Compensation:

  • Pay: $150,000 - $175,000 per year

What to Expect in the Hiring Process


1. Values in Action Self-Assessment - At Brighton Jones we don’t just talk about our values, we live by them! We’ve operationalized our values into observable behaviors and part of the application process includes completing a brief self-assessment on our Values in Action. 


2. Initial Interview - This 30-min chat with a recruiter or hiring manager gives us a chance to learn about your background and goals and share more about the role and company. 


3. Role Alignment - Next you’ll meet with the hiring manager and a peer (virtual or in-person) to dive deeper into the role, responsibilities, and your transferrable experiences. 


4. Full Loop - You’ll meet the team in two, back-to-back interviews with team members you’re likely to work with. During these conversations, we’ll be listening to examples of your technical skills as well as how core values show up in your experience. There may also be a writing sample, role play, hiring, or technical assessment depending on the position. 


5. Personal Reference Calls - In this final step in the hiring process, you will be asked to arrange 1-2 personal reference calls with past managers of our choosing.
